Weeelll, you are right about the cool story, but I guess you never played the original game . No spoilers from me though. I guess you will just have to wait and see what happens . I will say, this version is MUCH better than the original IMO.

The official versions can be downloaded from Itch (later also from Steam). The current official version on itch is v0.4.

Do you have examples?

There are hidden choices that do not appear in the choices menu if their criteria isn't met. Sometimes you will see a single option as a result.

In other cases they are commands that Don wants Amanda to do. Such as "kneel" or "crawl to the bedroom". These thematic "choices" are intentionally meant to break the flow of just mashing space bar. Don demands Amandas attention. And since you are Amanda, well, he demands attention from you too. Be a good girl and give him your full attention. There aren't a lot of these kind of "choices" in the game though.
