There's no walking around the map in the Renpy version. Whether that's a good thing is a matter for preference, for me it certainly is. In terms of content, they are both exactly the same.
There's a massive difference between RPGM and Renpy, because Renpy allows you to make a purely VN version. If you're only interested in the content, then the VN version is what you want.
The Sandbox version gives you a greater insight into the minutae of Anna's life. Like where in Sun City all these events are taking place. The glossary which gives additional information about Anna and the other characters and possibly what might happen with them all in the future ( plus Anna's corruption stats and relationship values). And the phone which has additional phone conversations and text dialogues between Anna and the other characters, and stores the additional collectibles that you can discover on a mini-game instigated by Dilan.
Personally, I prefer the sandbox version because I like it's more intimate insight into Anna's life. But having said that, it's not without it's issues. The phone function has so far been poorly handled, which has resulted in old saves being untenable. Which is a big problem for those of us ( myself included) that want to have our own choices reflected in the game. Yeah, the Devs have provided saves with each new update, so it's been possible to play new content without restarting the game. But these still eliminate a lot of possible previous choices, and thus limit options for players.
It was never a long term solution, and should have been sorted out a long time ago, when these issues first surfaced. This has come to a head with the last few updates, where quite a few people were unable to progress any further with the sandbox version, even with a bug fixed version, which corrected this issue for some people. After pressing the Devs on this issue, they've agreed that the phone function needs to be overhauled, so that people will be able to use old saves in the future ( as well as play it at all, because for some people, myself included, this is obviously a much more pressing issue). Hopefully, this will be done before the next update, and not delayed any further.
