For Giordano Bruno they are infinite,
for Dante alighieri there were 5 universes: hell, heaven, purgatory, earthly world and limbo.
For Giordano Bruno there were infinite worlds as each star visible in the night sky (and for an infinite number that we can't see) was a Sun with its cohort of planets orbiting around it.
Most of people before him believed there was only one world, that was the same as the universe and was basically what we now call the "solar system".
Dante was one of them.
He described several places in the "world": Vestibule of Hell, Limbus, Hell, Purgatory are all places here on Earth, the "sublunar world", what you call "earthly world".
Following the canonical Aristotelic worldview that the Chistianity inherited by the Romans (via Ptolemy), he then described the Heavens, the concentrical spheres of the "planets" (included Sun and Moon), where the souls of the Blessed could visit at their leisure. They were ethereal places, instead of earthly, but they still belonged to the "world" (universe).
Only after passing the "firmament", the sphere with the stars, you get outside the material universe: this is where God and the Blessed were.
There were Middle Ages philosophers that believed in multiple worlds, but those worlds still belonged to the same "creation", that is what we would call the same universe.

If you ask Dante, Limbo was far from the worst place in the universe. On the contrary. It's the place where God sends people that weren't Christians because they never had a chance. Since they have no guilt of their own, and are damned only because of the original sin, he didn't find the heart to see them punished.
The worst part of the world was the centre of the Earth, that was the lowest point of Hell: that was the shitty place where the worst of the Damned, the Traitors, suffered their eternal, icy torment. At its centre the worst traitor of all time: Satan, who rebelled against God.

for some physicists there are only 10 dimensions,
This is totally irrelevant. Dimensions aren't places. They're stuff like "width, lenght, height" (the three common spatial dimensions. If you render with a 3D program you aren't excused to know what a dimension is, btw.
What you're looking for is the "Many Worlds" or "School of Copenaghen" interpretation of Quantum physics. Those were the guys that first got the idea that there are several (infinite) universes in the same place (and time).

Your story is OK just leave Dante and poor Bruno alone.

The game looks and sounds very interesting.
Much success,
Trinciapere

For Dante Alighieri, there were five universes: Heaven, Hell, Purgatory, Limbo, and the earthly realm.

There are writing constructs that are used to convey a theme, not necessarily to be in the story, but to help the reader understand the direction and basics of the story. All three of the stated concepts are purely fictional not scientific facts.
Even (for some physicists there are only 10 dimensions) is conjecture.

You are right the title can make some confusion but don't be confused, be happy! this is a totally new game with new story, new characters, etc... it's the prologue of a long serie i'm building little by little. expect new adventures of anna and her friends! cheers

Your story is OK just leave Dante and poor Bruno alone.
Hahaha, poor Bruno, but he was a real greath man, a true dreamer and a very fine person too and the same is for our "old" Dante, another fine and greath man and i have the priviledge of speaking their native language so I can enjoy the comedy in all it's glory! W ITALIAN LANGUAGE! ITALIAN LANGUAGE FOREVER! Cheers

Hahaha... Sometimes a little slap in the ass can do magic: Anna has a peppery temper but the story will change her for the better. Some moments lighten the tension of the story with a dash of healthy irony and affection.

MEGA link gives a Mac file - don't know about the others (I don't use them if i can help it).
i used the ren'py function to build game for working with win 10, mac and linux platforms so you can pick the one you have and want to play. i suggest to use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd generation external USB sound card with some good headphones to enjoy the soundtrack to its fullest potential.

Glad to see I'm not the only one around here that knows their history and basic science. That said you are slightly off on the topic of dimensions. While I agree the many worlds theory is what the dev was looking for it's worth noting once you get past the 4 basic perceptual dimensions of height, width, depth, and time you do get into the realm of potentially non-intersecting physical diamensions or at the very least physical spaces which do not exist in a 1 to 1 ratio with the 3 primary physical dimensions. This is where the conceptual idea of subspace in science fiction comes from.

the mini devil statue in the game is also an obscure reference to the same artefact found in the movie 'Exorcist 3'
It's a Mesopotamian sculpture representing the demon Pazuzu, it wasn't invented for the movie.
