Annoying thing about incest games

I have 2 brothers and one sister. And in my ENTIRE life I've never had a conversation with them where it's: " oh brother...blah blah brother." Or sister. Or sis/bro.
NO ONE talks like that. Almost as if ppl have names, and use them. Even when they are related to each other. Quelle suprise.

We hardly need the constant reminder that they are a sib. We did dL the game, AND the patch after all, we kinda got it. No, not cousins either. They have names too. The only people in families that get referred to by their title are parents and other pseudo-parental units like aunts uncles (who also have their names attached cause it's aunt/uncle'name')and grand-whatevers.

You kinda don't need to keep beating a horse once it's dead.

Python:
define pov = Character("[povname]")

python:
    povname = renpy.input("What is your name?", length=32)
    povname = povname.strip()

    if not povname:
         povname = "Pat Smith"

pov "My name is [povname]!"
It's just a basic script that could be implemented into a game. You could change "little brother / little sister" to whatever name you want, or you could add a scene before the game where the main character is asked who this person means to them. People, this is screenwriting 101.

Congratulations.

You just realized that video games aren't realistic.
That must be a huge milestone in your life...

Only need a good introduction to the characters really to define who they are. Then from there out you know who they are to the protag. Using unformal nicknames is better, or short brother down to bro, and sister to sis, etc. cousins to cuz. You normally wouldn't address your parents by their first names, neither aunts and uncles. Actually I would find it weird to address partner by name during sex at all. That would make it weird formal... idk..

well again you didn't have sex with your sister so you didn't know how to address her, none of us had.

I have called my twinsy "sis" on occasion, she does the same ... usually when we want something and are tryng to play the "look, we're siblings, we do things for each other" card.

Never called any of our brothers "bro" though. The only time i've ever uttered "bro" was to mock someone that said it all the time.

Cuz i've used a few times, mainly because we had a cousin come visit us and I couldn't remember his name so he was, and still is Cuz.

I rarely use my girlfriends name either. It's either one of the nicknames we've given each other or the old go to, babe.

I sort of agree. While the realism part is a bit irrelevant, but from a writing standpoint its a bit much. That said, I don't have a close relationship with my mom. She didn't raise me or anything and I think I've seen her maybe once or twice in the last decade, and talked to her a handful of times. She refers to me as "son" instead of my name, dunno if its because she forgot my name or if she is trying to remember I'm her son, whatever the case is she does that but my two brothers who were raised by her do not.

In addition, I grew up referring to my uncles/aunts as such. Uncle X, Aunt Y, which is something that I feel like games don't do a lot.

It's also possible it has something to do with weeb culture and japanese games having an influence on western games. This is because japanese siblings do call each other by Onee-chan and shit, especially when young.

Ah, and I don't really care. I see it some much that it doesn't even register with me when the game does say it.

Everything is complicated here. Among some Turkic peoples, people call an uncle and an aunt is called a brother and a sister if they are younger than their parents.

I think for me it depends on intimacy of your relationship with sister in this case. And it is very situational. In daily life you probably address each other by name (maybe its diminutive form), but in moments of intimacy (not necessary sexual) you can easily switch to sister(sis)/brother(bro).

Yeah, no. I have a bro and that's how we refer to each other since ages. At some point, he started to call our parents by name instead, but between us, nothing changed. Cultural and personal facts play here.

Incest games revolve around the interpretation of a role, not names. I know that Debbie is a MC mom in Summertime Saga or that Karen is the MC mom in The Visit. But in real life you approach your siblings and relatives by their names, not role right? Well, you also approach your parents, but switch 180 degrees and call them by their "higher role", because they conceived you so paying respect is more appropriate thing unless you're a dickhead to everyone.

Think of like this. You're in the middle of intercourse and she gives you a titjob. Now imagine which sounds hotter:

A) "Oh mom your boobs are so tender"

or

B) "Oh Karen your boobs are so tender"

The 2nd option sounds like you're just having a sex with a stranger/friend, which defeats the whole point of incest. It's all about fictional naughtiness, because incest is taboo all the way.

I address my little brother by either his real name or a local slang for "brother" which I can't really translate. And I never call my mother by her name. I call her "mutter" which is local slang for mother. Don't get me wrong, I don't go "bro" or "mom" every 5'th word, but I tend to use those terms more than I use their names.

I've never used my mom's and dad's name while talking to them, but I address to my sister by her name and have never used sister, same with cousins. Also when talking to someone about my aunts and uncles I call them "Aunt/Uncle [insert name here]", but when talking to them it's just "auntie/uncle".

I agree with pretty much everything said until now. I only call my brothers and sisters as "brother" and "sister" when I'm talking with a third person but usually onlt if I don't have that much trust with the third person, like an stranger or a distant relative I just met. If I'm talking with a friend who knows my brother/sibling I would refer to them as "bro" or "sis" usually.

I usually never address anyone I talk to, ever, by name or title. They already know I'm talking to them, so there's no need to. Even in groups, it is usually not hard to know who you're talking to.

Only if I want someone's attention who isn't in the same room /vicinity do I call their name or title to get them realize I'm talking to them.

But in fiction it's different. If there are more than two characters present for instance, you can't use eye contact to know who's talking to who, so you can use names and titles instead.

Incest porn isn't about real life, it's about the kink and that kink involves the brother/sister being displayed as brother/sister, for some this means calling them exactly that, it also implies some form of intimacy and being okay with it.

Also if my sister sends me a message it usually starts with "hey lil bro" and I usually start with "hey sis", though that's only messages, other than that we call each other by name.
