It's a good game.
I just wish it had more branching and stuff like that.

It feels more like a porn game than an AVN at times.

And I'm not really a fan of the sandbox.
But the girls are hot. I suppose that's the most important thing.

But i agree on the critic about Nea plot not working well with the harem stuff.
I kind of wish there was a mod for the game that removes any mention of Nea being trans, not to remove a trans character, but because it feels like a massive amount of valid criticism is being painted as "bigotry" and casually dismissed because "who gives a fuck what a bigot thinks." It feels like if the game were written identically, but there was nothing about Nea being trans - and before anyone says "it makes zero sense if Nea isn't trans!": tell that to all the people who are shat upon by peers, their parents, everyone in their life they know and don't know, along with all the families of people who have ended their lives because of feeling so unwelcome in the world - then there would be next to no defense for the response of both Luxee and people supporting Luxee's stance on making the primary love interest in a game with ONLY a harem path be so emotionally fragile that a glass of water with crushed ice instead of cubed ice would cause a mind break.

Seriously, I wish people had the option to play through with Nea not being trans, not having any sort of bias one way or another flag in their head, and see how absolutely disjointed and out of place the mix of this specific romance and a forced harem game are.

(Add.: I read the rest of your comment, but I didn't have much to say about it, be it in response to or in line with it.)

I don't really get the problem to be honest. We learn that Nea is trans very early on and the options exists to just say "I'm out of here. Bye." It's not like people are romancing this little cutie then suddenly get a dick slapped in their face - unless they're not reading anything and just ignore all the options.

The average F95tard user isn't even smart enough to read the OP... and you expect them to read the story of an AVN? :KEK:

I've said this before, ignoring only skips her events, but it PUTS YOU INTO A RELATIONSHIP by default. That's my biggest bitch with this game. Ignoring is the same way accepting, you just don't see it actually happen.

So, I send her packing off the nearest roof

Because people were told that they could just be friends, and that... doesn't pan out. That's what the vast majority of the complaints have been about, not that you'd know it from the way the white knights go on.

To be fair Luxee has handled their trans characters in both games like trash in the beginning. In PL the trans character was use as a pump and dump. I vaguely remember the character asking to be apart of the harem and the MC was like fuck no and you never saw them again. That was until Luxee went back for the final update for PL and allowed you to go back and let them in the Harem or not.

With A69 in the first or second iteration of the game you had a choice to be friends with Nea or tell them off by using a vulgar derogatory term to do so. Later on Luxee changed the dialogue and removed the derogatory term to something else. However they never truly fixed the game to have the option to be without Nea or just friends like people wanted.

Overall It's bizarre how Luxee has handled their trans characters almost like there was some kind of resentment towards them, but changed only when people complained. I'm not expecting anyone to really remember this given the first iteration of the game was almost 6 years ago at this point.

Offtopic rant: Seems like Luxee has kind of given upon this game. I expected at least an update by now via their website tracker. Yet here we are going into the 2nd month of 2024 and still silence. Im not really holding any hope at this point because lets face it almost over half a decade has gone by and there really isnt anything to show for for it in terms of a cohesive storyline.

Wait, there was a trans character in PL? Was this only in the 1.1 update? I'm pretty sure I went through it 100% in the 1.0 update, but I'm not sure if I went through it 100% with the 1.1 update. Or maybe I did see and am just completely blanking, if it was a one-time-use character. The game was first posted here in 2017 and 1.1 was in 2022, so that very well could be the case.

I won't speak of the character in PL, because I don't remember, but for Nea in this, it seems like it's somewhere between "being a good ally" and fetishistic, to try to write a serious love story within a run-of-the-mill harem porn game, where it's not because the character is trans that it feels like this, but because the character feels like a Mary Sue of any plight that trans people may or may not experience - the majority of said experiences not being specific to trans people - and used as a shield to defend against legitimate criticism. There's zero consistency between the Nea story and the rest of the game.

In comparison, the trans character in Midlife Crisis is presented as primarily a sex object - consistent with every other character - but does have a personality and character development - consistent with every other character, but touching on some topics that wouldn't really make sense with a female character, or even a gay male character - and the game allows the harem to function because it's not building this character out of glass. She fits the story. I would say Nea doesn't fit the story of Apartment 69, but the game is about Nea, first and foremost, so I'll say the harem of Apartment 69 doesn't fit the story of Nea.

Holy crap, I had no idea it has been that long. It feels like just a year or two ago I first wound up on this site from one of those sites that used to host Flash porn games... :(

The masseuse at the massage parlor was one, and yeah, the character was present in 1.0. In 1.1 Lux just expanded the storyline and gave a bit of a happy ending. Jordan I think the name was

In my opinion, artists must be allowed freedom of creation, if you don't like it, don't read it, if it criticizes trans or straight people and it bothers you, read another novel that has what you want to read. I read stupid criticism in many discussions and they are not constructive, sometimes I can understand that there are artists who abandon their works because they cannot stand non-constructive criticism.

Was the game really abandoned?
The sad thing is the game had a 2 year wait for their other game to finish. Were now just shy of a 1 year wait for a "regular" update. That doesn't even include the massive delay A69 had for the final update for that said other game. They don't even bother updating their personal website tracker anymore. It truly feels like Luxee does not have it in them anymore. I wouldn't mind all of this if they just straight up told us they're not interested in developing the game any further.
