Ren'Py - Apocalust [v0.08] [Psychodelusional]

This game just works.

In spite of a naive and unconvincing story, the artwork is amazing (although not realistic at all but who cares), and the excellent renders and animation add up to a lot of erotic engagement, which is the whole point in these games.

Yes, the characters are exaggerated with their inflated tits and asses, so those who want 3D authenticity should probably move on.

This one is so so, on the edge. Story is terrible, the events make no sense, characters have no interest, choices are few and don't seem to matter at all, etc. So, best thing is to just skip through it and ignore it all together.

But on the other side, the technical aspects are really good. Almost everything is animated, from normal conversations to sex scenes, and the quality of characters, renders and so on is amazing. I turned of the sound so don't have an opinion on it, and faced no bugs while playing.

So, in the end, it certainly works well for a quick fap, doesn't if you expect anything more than that.

So normally I get annoyed seeing ridiculously curvy women and absurdly large dicks in a lot of the VNs. This one surprises even me to say: it just works. This VN, imo, just dripped erotism from start to current finish (v0.07). What makes it work is that everything is just so alive. As short as it currently is, there's probably already more animations than most VNs on this sight. And majority of those animations are actually really well done. Not to mention the scenes and renders are all top notch. For those factors alone, I would highly recommend this game and it's definitely worth the download!

That being said, as much as I'm raving about how hot it was, I have to knock a star off for the story and a few other things.

Frankly, the story was a bit meh. It's not horrible but as others have basically said, story writing is clearly not the dev's strong suite. Mix this dev with a good writer, and I could easily see them knocking one out of the park. I would also have to take some points off for the Kendra character (red head). Her body shape literally goes from 0 waist to big thighs. Apparently hips were an afterthought. It just looked grossly deformed to me.

Negatives aside though, definitely adding this to my watchlist.

Another game to my top 5 games on F95. The renders alone make it land up there but i know from AWAM and JOHN that renders aren't the end all be all. All the funny lewd scenes building to the final moment have been fantastic hence why the 5 stars. Keep up the good work dev.

This is so close to being one of the best games out there. The renders and animations, especially in the later parts are some of the best that exist right now. You can tell the dev has serious talent.

All the female characters are uniquely designed. They're beautiful. And definitely fit the archetype they're going for.

Where the game fails is in the story. The writing isn't the best but it's serviceable. There are transitions between days and scenes that seem very harsh. There are several times where I've had to go back just to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Overall, I believe everyone should play this one. It's pretty great and definitely worth your time.

Apocalust stands out as one of the best games I've played thus far. The renders are breathtaking, and the animations are equally impressive. The characters in the game are excellent, and there's a subtle parody of the Wild West, particularly with the inclusion of a rodeo, adding a unique perspective to the overall experience. I find myself enjoying the storyline as it unfolds. However, there's a twinge of disappointment that the game's progress has been relatively slow. Considering it's been half a decade since the game's inception, it's disheartening that the main character is still unaware of the full capability of his superpowers and how they actually work, let alone how to control them effectively. The mystery surrounding the extent of his abilities adds an intriguing layer to the narrative, but there's a growing anticipation for the moment when he gains mastery over these extraordinary gifts. Additionally, there's been minimal development in the interactions between characters Evelyn and Ava, which is a bit unfortunate, in my opinion.

While the game is undeniably exceptional, it seems to be progressing at a slower pace. Nonetheless, kudos to the developer. I hope you find yourself comfortably seated in first class, and I sincerely encourage you to expedite the update process for this outstanding game. Wishing you success in both your game development endeavors and personal life.

Nice and smoothy grafics. I like the style, where it's allways motion there. Even in the dialogs the persons have small motions, so it feels more realistic this way.

This dev is clearly talented at creating a lovely rendered and animated game,, but they need to hire talented writers and let them create a better story to go alongside their render and animation talents.

Imagine if this dev hired talent that could create amazing story's on a WiaB/SG or CityofBrokenDreamers level whilst rendering and animating to this quality as seen in Apocalust.

Such a shame they choose to create such great 3d art and support it with such a clumsy story.

Apocalust v0.06

+ Yes, the game is gorgeous, wonderful animations and attractive, diverse, albeit over-over-exaggerated models.

-- Zero Ren'Py menu controls (back, skip, hide, etc.)
Considering all the work going into animations on every screen, I find it difficult that there isn't an option to toggle the default menu options on/off.

-- Terrible writing.

-- Plot holes.
For example, early scene when mother gets stuck in washer/dryer...one frame has MC ejaculating and the next she is free instead of still stuck. How did she teleport? Because teleportation is the only explanation of how she got unstuck.

OVERALL:
If this is an experiment in coding, animations, and renders then I get it, there is some cool stuff here.
But just look at the most popular/downloaded/rated VNs and replicate the formula there because this writing doesn't work, at least not in this early version.

Outstanding game with astounding characters. I must say the characters built very well. And the story is very well written. Each of the character is just perfect in its own way. Hope this VN will keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work dev .

Apocalust [v0.06] - Review

Overall:
In every sense of the word, this is a PORN game. The character design and the events are all followed by a constant focus on lust, horny MILFS, and naughty sneak peeks at someone's crotch or cleavage.

Did I have fun playing this game? Absolutely.
Is it the best game I've ever played? Nope, but I would still give it 5 stars because it's quite original.
Here are my thoughts.
Design:
Regarding the visual aspect of this game, I was really blown away. I like how the dev didn't skimp on the body proportions and the amount of ass jiggles in this game. Some would say that it's useless, but I think it's fun.
The game is fully animated, with great attention to detail and evident focus on boobs, asses, and overall hot models. If you like MILFS - this one's for you.
Story
In short, the guy you're playing as gets into contact with some alien entities. After that, he gains a set of metaphysical abilities that soon start corrupting his mind. This all serves as a way to get lots of lewd scenes, naked women, and sex. The story is not believable, but it serves the purpose of getting the most out of these characters and being a fun experience for the player.
Gameplay
The game is divided into chapters; it's linear, but you do get to click on things - a few choices here and there, but it's nothing major.
There are love and lust points that can get you to different scenes and in different directions regarding the relationships you have with other characters, but it's kind of pointless as I believe most people are going to click on the lust option. The music and the sounds are great, and I also liked the humour elements in the dialogues.


All in all, it was a fun one hour and a half experience.

Best animations, characters, and story I've seen yet. This is the first game I've felt compelled to support; I highly encourage any who enjoy this project to consider a donation. The quality is far beyond what I've grown used to here on these forums.

This is a a must HAVE and support for MILF + huge breast lovers.

Visuals

• I'm sorry (not really) but the character model chosen for the MC just looks like a chode. He has no actual hairstyle, and he looks like he's 15 but has his own house?

• I feel like there was a missed opportunity - amid all the visual appeal of this game - to have mouth movement. There is zero, despite the rest of the characters' bodies having cyclic movements in virtually every scene.
• The depth of field(?) implemented in this game is top notch. Truly one of a kind.
• For all its visual glory, the animations largely suffer from inferior physics/collision. A very good example of this

  It's literally like someone said "click the parts you want to jiggle" and only two places were selected and completely overdone.
• My final critique on the visuals: the bob and sway of characters in otherwise still scenes makes me feel like I'm at the character selection screen for Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter or Tekken.
• Random gyrating movements that are neither fluid nor natural

Gameplay Mechanics

• Constant "BUZZ!" effect to express surprise/alarm
• Completely unrealistic non-instinctual gestures, mannerisms, and reactions. You'll see what I mean when you stare at each scene as you play through.
• LP are neither explained nor appear to have any real function. You also cannot lose any; worst case scenario is you miss gaining a few. To what end? Don't implement a point system without making it clear why/how it will affect the story or the player.
• I don't remember dev's other game being so naively oblivious. Every woman in this game is unrealistic in every conceivable way. Obviously, that's a good thing where a number of their bodies are concerned. It is not a good thing when we think about charcter, relatability, and just general human tendencies. For example:

• Why bother with Love/Lust options? Who's going to pick Love over Lust in a game like this? It's clearly not substantive enough that the average person is going to be interested in any love path. Even if we were, the game doesn't offer any discernable consequence either way.

Dialog

• Ellipses...so...many...ellipses.
• Dialog pauses, where we just see one character thumbnail followed by the other and no actual words thought or spoken.
• Honestly, the proofreading overall is pretty abysmal. I've seen multiple spelling and grammar errors. Given the amount of time dev needs between updates, there should be zero spelling/grammar issues.

Story

• It's exactly what you think it's going to be, at least so far. MC is a clueless simp with no discernable character or personality.
• Every woman somehow magically wants your nuts, even though they have zero incentive (assuming they had not yet seen your cock).
• The progression is quite slow. Despite the version we're in now, and a sizeable update in terms of content we can consume from the last update, there's still really nothing going on.
• It's basically MC stumbling from one scene to the next in an encounter with 1 or more women who seem to either get stuck in impossible ways that result in sexual tension, or that is skipped entirely and within moments someone's getting naked.
• Tl;dr - MC is in college, but doesn't live at nor is he ever seen entering one. He has a live-in maid who acts like his mom. Everything with a vagina wants him inside her, no matter how unimpressive he is. There are indications of a harem element brewing.

Final Thoughts
I don't know what happened to the spark of talent from Dark Neighborhood, but aside from creating visually stunning imagery I'm not convinced the dev is capable of good storytelling. Yes, I know that in general the average VN has garbage storylines, unbelievable characters, etc. This isn't going to stop me from giving an honest review each and every time I encounter those flaws. I'm not going to contribute to normalizing these people making a killing by phoning it in. It's too late to continue saying the dev can still turn this around and make a quality game. He clearly doesn't care to, and just wants impressive jerk-off material. I think his time would be much better spent doing exactly that; become an animator and crank out short/medium clips on Patreon. It seems to me you can make a decent amount doing that anyway, and there are no deadlines or pressure.

3 stars for incredible visuals, sans the caveats mentioned above. 0 stars for story and dialog.

You want a porngame? This one is a very good one. Visuals are beyond anything that other highest rated AVN s can produce. Yes, story is a bit weird, dialogues are full of mistakes and it is hard to distinguish between spokn words and thoughts. But other than that this game gives what a porn game can give with an uncanny presentation. Animations are the best I have ever seen. As a AVN it is a failure, as a porngame it rules undisputed.

The renders and animations in this game are absolutely unreal. I cannot understate the quality of the visuals. The Story is flawed and generally too broad in scope. There are elements of Science fiction that are unrelated to the rest of the plot and it sort of feels like three unrelated stories (the alien plot, the medicine plot, and the family drama plot) are all happening parallel to each other without much overlap. That said, if the plot serves only to facilitate fantastic visuals then it does the job really well.

Same with the female character designs, they're very hot.

My only problem with this game lies with the writing.

It's riddled with spelling mistakes such as using "Their" instead of "They're"
or "Your" instead of "You're" So a proof reader would be recommended.

The other issue is that I can never tell whether the dialogue is something that's being said out loud or if it's a thought since whenever a character is thinking the text is never between the ( ) symbols or something else that would imply that it's a thought.

Sadly this game is but pale shadow of Psychodelusional previous game the Dark neighborhood.

While Dark neighborhood was my The All Time Number One visual novel with it amazing characters, pacing and renders, Apocalust falls short on every aspect except the graphics. And yes, the renders in this game are indeed best in the genre, but it does very little to me when it's impossible to me to immerse myself to this, as everything but the graphics in this game are paper thin.

I guess Psychodelusional decided to take different approach as the previous game didn't gain enough supporters in patreon compared the work was put in the Dark neighborhood (which felt like crime in itself to me, but what can you do :/), but unfortunately, as a previous supporter of his/her work, this one isn't for me.

Regardless I do hope all the success from his/her hard work. And due that effort that has been clearly put into this game, I give 3/5 rating, even if my enjoyment of the game is 1/5

First off: I'm not an expert, a connoisseur of art and literature. I'm just a guy who likes porn games for what they are: porn.
And this one has it! Oh the quality of the renders and animation. The character models. I'm not going to tell you this has big titties and curves, cause it's on the screenshots. But hot damn the visuals are nice in this one.

The story is pretty basic, but still fun at points. I'm curious to see where it's headed (currently on version 0.05).
