I don't think that has anything to do with sending them to school. I get that from time to time when aging them up in the first place too. I usually remedy that with NPC editing.

Do the kids in school actually learn a skill? Do I need to give them the growth potion? How long for babies to move into school?

School education, from age 6 to age 18, and yes, the child eventually acquires the chosen skill (if the skill is selected), after a few weeks (if I'm not confusing anything), if not, then gets a random skill.
Can skip age to 6 years, and then let him suffer (learn).

During a scene at the Settlement I think I saw a message pop up about a church blueprint for my base but I haven't seen it. Is that a future update?

its not in the game yet (thats why the blueprint isnt in your inventory)

This might sound like a stupid request... I am about to look into the files myself to see whta happens, but is there a way to to sdtop the videos form playing? I would like to see what I can do after a few updates (I hink I started back on .60?) aand I am currently living with someone who does not allow pornography in their house. No door for privacy and it is only for a couple of months as I sort out my own place.

As mentioned - in settings. Also you can enable there SFW mode. That will hide all videos and any other sexual content (images)
