H-scenes are amazing but goddamn the GAME is unbearable to play through
I've downloaded plenty of RPGMaker H-games, but only very few are actually fun to play and read through.

Do side quests disappear if you progress the main story? I just finished the main quest where you figure out what happened to your brother and I've only seen one side quest to deliver ramen while exploring the town

They only disappear when you past the point of no return (game will warn you when you gonna reach it). Some quest chains got some kind of cooldown when they are not avaliavle to progress, noone can say what is actual trigger for them. You may consult our SideJobs guide on Steam page if you stuck.

How to fix lag while playing with Joiplay/ Maldives?
You need to change some setting on game plugin (Apostle:Rebellion - www - js - plugins)
Try this if it works.
Also try to check on joiplay discord, i think someone posting about it long ago.

Layla's last scene made me mad. If I recall, the only way for her to have gotten that guitar back was sleeping with numerous clients, our dude, even the empathetic schlub he is, notices the guitar, and instead of being upset after her saying we can't continue, slept with other people, got her guitar back, we forgive her, sleep with her, then she sells it again and buys 2 matching ones for us? Nah. My immersion means I got upset over it, internally angry and so wanted at least some kind of conflict to have occurred to make her take accountability. I get that she was some kind of sex worker, and that's fine and all. But from the opening scene to pre-last scene she was only with us from what we can tell until the second scene happens, then boom, she has her guitar on the third and final scene meaning she slept with 10 other people? Nah. Makes me internally rage. Games need to stop giving us love interests that sleep with others nowadays. If you're into that stuff, good for you. But that shit does literally nothing for me. And what makes it worse is, she did all that to get the guitar back, then decides 24 hours later she no longer wants it because of us? If she felt that way, she would've relied on us to help her get it back to begin with. In conclusion, Layla's story is trash, personally.

What a weird take. So it's okay if you fuck everyone that's not Layla and fuck Layla, date all of them, and be noncommitted to any one of them, but Layla is trash because her profession is fucking other people. In an obviously shitty neighborhood in a cyberpunk setting. Okay, buddy.

My issue was more with the wishy-washy way she acted about it. She was adamant about not wanting to go back to it, told the only way she'd be able to get her guitar back would be by sleeping with like 10 other people, tried to end things with the MC, was found crying the next day with the guitar, meaning despite her not wanting to do it, she chose of her own accord, to hypothetically get ran through, cried she was "Dirty" and MC shouldn't like her, then after all that, and her and MC sleeping together, next morning after, sells said guitar that she went through all that to get, just to buy 2 identical ones because now she's "Happy" It's just weird to me. Would've been better if we'd had the option to buy it for her via going there ourselves or something, had we the bits. Chastise me all you want, but it doesn't take away from the fact the scene could've been made better. That way, us having that option, for say, 10,000 bits or whatever, could've demonstrated how serious we are about her.

No dude, your issue is that she's implied to be fucking other dudes. If it had been any other job, you would not be complaining. There's so many plot holes and moments in this game and its prequel where a love interest is wishy washy, but you specifically chose to nitpick this one. Unless I'm mistaken, the game doesn't explicitly say how she got her guitar back. For all you know, making music or busking earned her that money back.

As for her not asking you to buy her guitar back a second time or buy two matching sets of guitars in addition to her guitar, that's a normal reaction. I would have seen her as disingenuous if she'd asked that. The whole point of the guitar isn't its material worth but its sentimental value. She had to give up something she loved just to get by. While any rich asshole can buy her guitar back, she wouldn't have sold her guitar again for just any rich asshole. She wanted to offer you something other than what people already pay her for and she wanted it to be something you'd easily understood the emotional weight of. If you could just rebuy the guitar immediately after, you'd be shitting on the sentiment of her giving up her most prized possession a second time. It doesn't matter that she eventually got it back herself later, the point was that the protagonist isn't just another rich John to her. How is that so hard to understand?

You're wrong in your assumption. I specifically pointed this out because I'd LITERALLY just got done with that event. And during the second event, it was stated at hotel ecstasy that sleeping with 10 guys would be easy for her. Then immediately before leaving tries to detach herself from you by saying you shouldn't see each other anymore. And she all but said it in the start of the third event. After MC says "That guitar..." while they're outside in the rain, she breaks down talking about how she doesn't deserve him because she's "Dirty" now. I mean c'mon, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots. I'm not some naïve child, I'm a man in my mid-30's. I grasp the emotional attachment of it, don't presume to think I don't. My issue was with how it was handled. And when I was saying about buying it back, I was talking in reference to the first scene, when she first explains how she had to sell it but they lied to her about its worth and were selling it for easily 10x it's price. I wouldn't expect her to ask you, the MC is such an empathetic guy it wouldn't have been far-fetched for him to think "Hmmm, if it's so important for her, I'll buy it her as a gift" Because he cares about his friends and people in general. But why am I even explaining this to you? It's not like it matters. You're not liable to believe it anyway. So I'm effectively wasting both my time and yours.

I stopped playing yesterday because I'd just got to the point where you can use your phone to invite others to a date but I'm uncertain if the date is a prerequisite for the endings of the girls like the first one, and can't find any info online about if they play a role in getting specific endings or not. So until I get confirmation on if the ball game date is a prerequisite, I'm choosing to play other games.

I'm just going to go with we're not going to agree. Honestly, I'm surprised you came back for the second game considering how inconsistent the romance routes were in the first game.

As for your other question, from an earlier post from myself, you can hit all the routes without a NG+. I can't tell you the specifics, but I do remember getting all the CGs and the harem end by reloading my save and I definitely did not bother doing a NG+ despite doing one in the first game.

No doubt about that. It was perfectly possible to get all CG in one play through. I never really go through these games (or most games actually) more than once, and I remember getting it all. It did of course mean doing all side content, etc. And from what I can recall, you also had to do it when it could be done and not put it off until it was too late.

Still, kind of unfortunate this guy retired from making RPGs though. He actually went the distance to produce something more than just 'functional'.

Heck, he was one of the scant few who actually made competent RPGs/games on top of the ero content. After all, the vast majority of these things are basically just window dressing to get the CG. With many just being CG collections with extra steps. Very generic, out of the box RPGM steps.

It was probably a combination of lack of profitability for the proportional amount of work put in. Times are tough for everyone, unfortunately.

Well, I can imagine it's certainly easier to build the VN stuff he's building now. Though to be honest, it's not like the release frequency increased that much.
Dude took 2 to 3 years per game before and his VN still take around the same time to build & release. Even now, building his second one (e.g. he has some pre-existing experience & maybe assets to work with), will likely finish after around 2,5 years.
Though the VN might have more CG than the RPGs before them.

Of course, dunno what the Kagura numbers are (or other storefronts), but we get the numbers from dlsite.
And looking at dlsite numbers alone, the RPGs sold around twice as much as the VN.

So profit wise, it's likely still better to produce above average H-RPGs than the VN.
