I also really like the Game so for, the NTR right now is also more light-hearted which is rather my type of stuff, because i'm more into the (wholesome) NTS with sharing and stuff, where the girlfriend / wife still loves her boyfriend/husband (and also keep doing it with them), but just enjoy sex with others. 'Hopefully' it will stick that way and don't take a full turn on it (or have multiple endings maybe?). Esp. considering the context on which website we're on and you pretty much sell it on Steam (which by the way, in itself i've to credit you on, because quite some H-Games i digged i could never support because they aren't on steam and i'm honestly someone who doesn't like Patreon and stuff for various reasons), so the last thing i've the right too is complain to you about your decision on this.

I really just want to adress this and share ma 50cents because that's honestly a thing which i'm super passionate about, like geniunle. I've played a alot of stuff and could deal with a lot of shit they drop at me and ignore that. But i'm dead serious, non-nameable character are really that much of a dealbreaker for me. It's really rare that i 'tolerate' them, and the only exception where i geniunly don't mind them are 'some' traditional highquality longterm japanese Visual Novels, but that's also because i don't perceive them as 'Hentai' Games but rather as - well - visual novels which just have some +18 Games... to put some perspective into it -> think of Witcher 3 - just because there is a little bit smut it isn't a porngame / h-game, isn't it? And i'd argue as a consumer of Porn-Game or H-Game you go into them for a different mindest than for normal games, and also a reason why you might take them over H-Manga/Anime, or normal Porn, and that's because you can Immerse yourself... and Name is such a strong and powerfull, but yet simple tool which can help to link the player to the character, and help them to immerse themself more.

And my personal Problem on Anti-Nameable Protagonists on the Dev side as a decision, is for me because it doesn't even really make sense. Like you say "Eadric" is his own character, yes? The fact that you add this as an optional feature that player can (re-)name him, doesn't really take away his canonical name nor the background you might set for him. You as dev still can see him as eadric, and might have quite some people who go with it, but you would help people like me to better immerse myself and enjoy the game way more. So i really don't get the stance to be honest. (/Edit: Like think of it this way, because some games had that already, if someone would decide and put effort into it to create a mod where you can potentially rename the protagonist and maybe his girlfriend as well (i'm sorry i can't even remember her name, i'm really bad at them, another reason why i prefer renamable names because they stick to my head - MC i'd also have to copy his name from your post) would that take away or ruin your character?)

The 'only' time where i could 'kinda' understand for not going with a customizable name is when voice-acting is part of it, but even then there are solution, especially for a H-Game where it begs how many actually will listen to them (because i'm serious here i pretty much mute any voice acting. Maybe it's really just me, but english (or german cause my native tongoue) sextalk is so cringe to me, when spoken out... in text form or a language i just don't understand it's a bit different tho), but think about Persona 5 with 'Joker' or Mass Effect with 'Commaner Sheppard'.

The big difference between Eadric and Joker and Sheppard is that Eadric talks a lot, has his personality, has a SPECIFIC background of a medic and has his family issues that comes out in 0.5 with Isolde, Eadric is closer to Geralt than Joker, is not meant to being self-insert.

Honestly that really doesn't dismiss my point tho. A lot of H-Games have a pretty strong background and focus on the character, and still allow you to rename your character. I really don't want to drop that on you with an ill-intent, but your Game isn't special enough or different enough compared to other H-Games which also gives you the option. And as i pointed out above, conceptually H-Games just work differently than normal games, and there is also is keypillar why it's different to H-Animes and Porn - because you don't strictly follow a video as a voyeur, you interact and play the game which opens up to immersion possibilities.

1. Still i'm curious about it, what if someone would make a mod which enables renaming the protagonist? Would that take away your character?
2. However it kinda explains why you act / feel that way, because look at it from the lense of a author like a book or movie, not from the perspective on a Game-Developer which would give the players more options, so they can enjoy the game how they want.

If i would be in your shoes(so a mere fictional example), while i would put canonical names as well, i wouldn't be bothered about an entirely optional feature which players might use, which aren't effecting me in any negative way... because most likely i will never know or see what the name they pick and as long as they don't take their (re-)name as canonical and try to force it on i dunno forum/wiki i don't see any problem. For me that would be just a consumerfriendly optional feature, which - again as asked above, are even added via mods in other games as well. So i dunno. Like don't take me wrong on this, 99% of time i'm pretty much that type of guy which 'defends' the artistic freedom of developers and dislike when people try to push to much what kind of content shuold be allowed and what not. But that's such an miniscule minor feature which can have such an effect on the players, that i can't understand why on the devside on 'some' devs is such a counter-attitude...

Look, that 'll come off as entitled (maybe it even is) and while i find it nice of you, it doesn't help me to give me a suggestion on other Project of yours, when i'm right now interested in this Game and this 'missing feature' is a problem for me. I mean i even sparked unneccessary a conversation/debate over it, and it backfires at myself because right now this convo and seeing your stance on this(<-especially that) pretty much ruined my mood for your games to the point that i'm not even sure if i test the other ones out or heck - even check the next update out. This is one of the few things where i'm quite stubborn. And i tolerated the non-nameable char because i really did like the rest of your game. But now seeing how differently we see things on this, it's a bit harder for me to overlook this.

Also - and that's absolutely no joke and also consider that it might a bit later because right now i'm a bit broke rn, if this game game 'would've' a nameable character, this would've 'pretty much' be an instabuy on steam for me (or again - considering broke context - soon as possible), but now i'm not even sure if i ever would. So honestly, i don't really care what you've planned where you than grace and allow plebs like me to insert and fully enjoy your games.

So if people wanna play the original dude they can, if they wanna self insert they can, at the end it stay's the mc's story as you wrote it regardless of his name. maybe it's just me but as I said, it just feels weird. Like naming Cloud "jimmy", even if you could do it in original FF7
I think naming the mc is when it's meant to self insert into the character. In some games you need to self insert as him, in some you need to perceive him as a different person
