Good news, I can reproduce it, so I'll be able to fix it. Bad news, I have no idea as to why it does this yet, so I'll have to investigate. Thanks for finding that. I'll hopefully fix it for next release.

EDIT: Fixed. Came from Xi's sprite being destroyed, and then called by a command to shake said sprite, finding nothing and crashing the save system. Sometimes skip / very fast reading creates those kind of behaviour.
Once again, thanks for spotting that.

Ok, so the torpedoes on the bombers are supposed to have an 80% hit chance against the frigates. I have never, not a single time, managed to hit. They dodge every time unless I scan them first. I've reloaded and tried again and again. Either I'm really unlucky or there is a bug.

when you use torpodoes, you have to pair them with the lower evasion skill from one of your bombers. Lower evasion ups the hit chance of torpodoes by 30%

When starting a new game, the first battle scene goes into a black screen. I didn't skip or anything. It just goes "We're not dying here" then fades only for it to be a black screen. Tried clicking, skipping, changing refresh rate, resolution, nothing worked.

I had something similar, hopefully it's the same.

Navigate to your Local saves in Appdata>LocalLow>CTS where the saves are stored and delete everything.
I have no idea why, but the game calls the save system when changing scenes and checks the save IDs in the settings file.
By deleting it, it creates a new one once you launch the game, and that fixed it for a previous user.
I'd encourage you to try that.

Finally found to time to revisit this.
Interesting choice on the battles, less of a 2D-Puzzle, more of rock-paper-scissors.
Well, a bit repetitive as of yet, but it's still early days.
And a bunch of typos, but the writing in the re-writes has improved, as has character depth.
Looking forward to future updates, it feels like the story arc is just about to get going. :)

I did that, and this time when I launched the game, it straight up soft crashed my PC. When ran again after it boots back up, still has the same issue. Tried it twice, again same thing happened. Deleted the folder for the saves, crashes my PC on first launch, folder is created, launch again, it's fine but still gets the black screen on the first battle at the very start.

EDIT: Checking the player log, I *think* it's because of settings I have on my Nvidia 3D settings, though I am not that knowledgeable so I could be wrong. I'll fiddle around a little. This is the first time this happened. Should I join the discord to give you the log so you can better pinpoint it?

EDIT 2: I manually picked the setting for the game specifically in the Nvidia 3D settings, the black screen as well as crashing was fixed when i turned V-sync *on* and Low Latency Mode *Off* those are the only two I have changed compared to the global settings. Don't know if it's one of those or both, but i'd rather not keep soft crashing my PC to further test if I can help it.

Well I am as puzzled as you are, because there's just Unity running a video, and then switching to a grid with sprites.
I feel like that shouldn't require a lot from your graphics card.
It's been years now, but I remember that one of the first thing I did was to remove VSynch Count on Unity so that skip would allow you to actually skip instead of just "going moderately faster because it's waiting for the next frame".

It IS possible that it's a strange interaction with your specific GC settings and Unity.
But if it is, it's above my abilities to solve.

Thanks for testing. (And if you want to send the log my way, I'm not against it)

Hey Mr or Mrs dev, you know that scene when the mc is talking to Norra while she's having a moment? I feel like the music should stop when the mc left to go check on Rachel in the hangar(idk if it was intentional or not), it feel pretty weird hearing sad violin when the dialog said the hangar is emty, and if your on the 2nd playthrough and know what's coming it's still pretty weird P.s: the sad violin stop playing when that Rachel scene start

I think it could be a mix of both low latency being on and v-sync being off when you have a powerful GPU. Low latency mode limits the number of frames the CPU can prepare before it's processed by the GPU, and in the log I was getting 7k+ frames generates if I read it correctly. The soft crash was actually my GPU failing to utilize and rebooting, so I think that could be a reason as the CPU was being overloaded with frames to limit and something about processing it to the GPU caused it to stall. Very weird though, that's never happened to me before.

I decided to try out a unity game with videos also, and without changing the settings, I also got a black screen when one tried to play at some point. I then did the same specific settings and it fixed it. What a weird thing to come across, it seems to be specific to Unity and videos. My guess is the low latency really fucks them up for some reason. Good news for you is if someone gets a black screen there is a chance it isn't your fault lol. Tell them to turn off low latency/ maybe also turn on v-sync in their GPU control panel if someone has it on to see if that fixes it next time someone asks about it, I am curious.

It's been a while since I visited this game and I'm glad to see that it's doing very well. Yesterday I finished the current content and I have to say that the dev is doing a great job!

If it comes to steam I will buy it, no doubt. If not, I'll make a one-time donation when one of the slots I have for this hobby is free.

Was a fun game and enjoy the fact you actually do turn based space fights, even if they're easy af for me personally.

Curious if there will be any type of money / upgrade system as the game mentions both a bit.
Us upgrading the space station for example or tweaking ships as the game gets closer to end game.
