I’ve checked at different times, but he never shows up. Could it be that I need to progress further in the main quest? I’m at Chapter 8.

Maybe it bugs out during Chapter 8?
Try finishing that and see if he pops up in the Post-Game after you see the ending.
I blitzed through the final 2 chapters so I don't know if anything goes weird in them, and had pretty much all of the H-events unlocked before I deployed in 7's dungeon or even got deep into the story, just enough to unlock the slum area.
Anything different happens if you pick virgin or non-virgin at the beginning? Any special dialogue or scenes?

Well, I did my best and translated the game into Spanish. Who knows if it'll be useful to anyone, but I'm going to share it anyway. It's not a perfect translation, but it's something. It's just the DATA folder, so you can overwrite everything. REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR GAMES FIRST.
Do different armours have special effects that they just don't list? Like, Metallic Veil and Resonant Guard both give +5 Defense and +5 Magic Defense, but the first costs 10k and the second costs 20k. And then there's Kamikaramikou which also costs 10k and gives +8 to both stats.

If I'm not mistaken, some armors are meant to give bonus resistances to certain types of damage and the like, though I haven't really tested to see if it works or matter. Combat is piss easy anyway. That and I got the debuff immunity armor in Chapter 1 and just used that. Was it worth it? No idea. Cuz I dunno how many enemies use any debuffs aside from probably poison in chapter 2.
How did I get that armor in Chapter 1? The 3rd Arena fight gives you 50k Money, is piss easy, and doesn't take all that long to get through, so fighting that 5 times is fast. Hell you can do it a lot more than 5 times if you want to put a dent in the debt thing and get the uber sword faster.

Can't say I've had that particular problem. This game is really light tbh, even by RPGM standards, so I can't imagine what might cause what you're seeing. It doesn't have animations and it's not over-modded on plug-ins like some other games out here, so it should be running fine on anything short of truly potato PCs.
this game is so fucking slow randomly generated dungeon and no checkpoints although the game is easy and the art might kick with most people eyes i am getting angry at how slow the game progresses because of the game's dungeon system
