Is it possible to play as only the male protagonist? I find it difficult to play as multiple protagonists these days. Gonna blame it on reading the Wheel of Time series. Lowkey remember being very frustrated when Rand only got a few chapters in some of those giant-ass books.
I loved Wheel of Time. Trust me that Is not going to be an issue. Percentage-wise this is roughly how it is in terms of layout of characters. 50% Male Protagonist, 40% Female Protagonist 10% other. I have 2 primary protagonists but every now and then I want to switch to another perspective since there are in the future going to be a lot of large-scale events and you can't be everywhere at once.

The wheel of time definitely had a problem with Rand Al Thorn taking a backseat. I never intend for that to happen in this. I remember being extremely frustrated in regard to the final battles and the stuff related to his friend the gambler. Can't remember his name off my head but yeah.

If I wanted to read a book I would just read a book, not click continue all the time. Besides, the story is not even interesting.
Could you tell me what you don't like and where you were at when your dropped it?

Appreciate the answer. Seriously. Unavoidable 40-50% is a lot though. Especially, if it's from a very different perspective. I don't think I'd be able to become immersed in the female side. Hooking up with dudes is a no and I don't really enjoy most stories from a female perspective. Reading Egwene & Nynaeve chapters from the Wheel of Time series was tiring af for me. I ain't gonna go through that again.

Best of luck.

I don't blame you and thanks. For me I don't see sex and the porn aspect as a primary driver for the series and for both the male and female protagonists being a virgin to the end is possible. For the guy its a lot harder than the girl but it is doable. For me this should be a solid story first and to do that I can't just throw sex around in the sort of meaningless way that a lot of people do.

Anyways thanks for replying as well.

Could you tell me where it is. I was looking over the code and I can't see it.
You have to choice to either "Do something" or "Trust in them". Whichever i choose after several pages i am back to that choice.

Also up to that choice i didn't had one sex scene? Maybe put a hint system, or in the choices to know which lead to a sex scene? just a thought

I have updated it. As for the Sex scenes, I originally did have a hint at the end of the first release.

If you want the sex scene it is guaranteed if Julian lives at the beginning.

The sex scenes are not a primary focus but there will be a copious amount if that is what you want to do in the future. I can't promise new ones will be added every update or what now. For me, this story game is a decision-based game and sex is a very good way to build relationships or arguably break them.

However, I'm not rushing to it. Some routes will have it very soon, others won't for a while, and most are in between.

The game is designed around choices that are impactful so I am not rushing towards including them. If I just let you have sex with all the heroines the moment they show up that would be boring IMO. Some are way more open to it than others and there will be copious amounts of sex in the future depending on how you play the game. For now however because of where the story is there are not a large number of scenes.

Yes, I released this while I get money to pay an artist. I intend to make it into a visual novel but I released this first since I'm looking to make it something along how Fate Stay/Night is done for example. I need to gauge how good my writing is and get it up to standard before I potentially dump a few thousand into getting an artist to make sprites, CGs, backgrounds etc.

There are broadly 2 common routes that are interspersed by a second character so basically it is four hours give or take to get to one of the multiple "endings" that is where the major choices come in. For me I love visual novels and I've played choice based games before. I think they often get bogged down in meaningless choices and it hinders character development and narrative. For me the idea is to give the player less choices but more major choices.

For me, I can write quite fast so making ten+ hours of content every couple weeks is easy especially since this was by far the hardest part of the story for me to write. Already I started writing the next parts and I am flying through them so much so that even with far less time than before I'll probably have even more next update unless I move directly onto the visual novel stage.

Currently I suspect this is less than 1% of the final game product. I calculated how much time I thought it would take to finish this project fully and by myself I think two years give or take depending on whether I manage to guage up enough support to hire a cg artist full time and a programmer. As is I don't expect that to be the case for this first release since I don't have art and its not in the format I think it will shine best in. However, as mentioned this is more about getting my writing style good enough so that when I do release the VN version I can get the support I'll need for all my plans.
You could use AI to make the brute job of making objects, backgrounds etc and the artist just make the npcs and the player.

I actually had an entire threat in the Dev part of this forum discussing it. For Twine it would be one thing but with the Visual Novel proper that is probably not happening.

So, I'm a ways into the story so far, and besides spelling errors here and there (And a couple of failed name calls, like MaleMC being referred to as Name or the FMC being called the default name Cythia), it's been mostly dandy... Except one flaw that's been affecting my enjoyment, that being the inability to access the 'Known Characters' page, which only ever shows "Double-click this passage to edit it."

I wonder if in one of the links I uploaded a faulty version. Right now I am working on a new project, since I am moving this into a visual novel and so this is defacto discontinued. It will get finished once I release the visual novel in a year or two.

At the moment, I am planning on releasing a new game since my work on the Visual Novel is largely just waiting for my artist to get done and I would like to have a team together for it specifically.

I am broadly thinking of making Aurelian Nostrum into a game/visual novel series. I am currently working on a game that will release in the next week or so that I intend to work on and complete before then since I have an amazing artist and I want to give them the time neccesary for the first game in the series which will include gameplay and hopefully things like voice acting etc.

Really sorry for the mess and I hope you will check out my next game. It takes all of the stuff I've learned from this and should be a vastly improved experience.

Honestly, I absolutely don't mind having only text, I generally prefer text-only to some of the abominable 3D renders I see floating around this site... That said, if that's what you want to do, you do you.

That said, if I had one suggestion, it might be to limit the number of choices and be more on-rails, if only to expedite writing/development. I could see that at some point, the number of possible similar-but-different routes opening up in this game would eventually start cutting into progress as you spend more time on parallel route development. I think, as long as the framework is there from the beginning, you can add in branches later and work out from there rather than start with the whole bush.

If you want to see the art I am going with here. This is the art and we're looking to change the nose etc but this is an example of the style and art I am going with. You will notice some things wrong with the picture IE one of the Pauldrons being off. We have been editing this so you can see. The top is the design we have decided upon for her armor and haven't adjusted her nose on yet since I just drew a line on the bottom one in paint to show the angle I want. Anyways this is what you can expect and by the time I am working on it I expect to have a proper studio. The game I am releasing has actual gameplay and incoporates a lot of systems and so on that should make it stand out and be pretty great. If I get enough support I will probably get another artist to add this level of artwork to that game if people want it for both sex scenes and profiles etc.

As it stands I just don't have the money and stuff to put together a proper studio yet. I am hoping my next game will be more successful so that by the time I am working on Aurelian Nostrum again I can get a proper team with Japanese voice actors, multiple artists, a few programmers and maybe a few assistant writers etc. All in all I am working on a project right now as stated that will hopefully be able to draw in support that will allow me to make it. Ideally by the time that Is completed I will have all the art I need and the funding required to actually make the first part of Aurelian Nostrum. I do intend to make a proper studio that will hopefully make waves. Honestly, considering the feedback I have gotten money seems to be my only problem so I sort of have to shift my focus away from this immediatly to make a game that should be good enough to warrant peoples support which will then be the catapult I need.
