I personally believe that their project has gotten outside of their scope. If you back trace through their Cien updates, you can see the game make drastic re-iterations that change something core about the game and even the developer themselves have admitted that there are features that have simply escaped their grasp (the downed struggle animation for example). At the same time, and on a better note, it seems they're doing that to flourish their skills. On their twitter, you can see them interacting with some other game devs too, so maybe this game is more a dev playground to expand their skills more than a product that would follow a usual development cycle. I don't expect this game to be finished soon so you're better off gooning to the new animations each month rather than holding your breath. (Also, each update, if you buy the 1000 Yen option, comes with an animated gif that they worked on so that probably cuts into the solo developer time budget)
