It might be that you already know this and are willing to take the risk (or are a true hero and don't care about the money)...
buuuuuut....
Patreon income is generally significantly higher that Substar for dev's with an account presence on both sites. After a ban, you'll never get back the same numbers on substar as you had on patreon, and they charge even more percentage.
Patreon can and will close your account (and NOT return any money they hold) if they are alerted to stuff outside their terms and conditions. All it takes is one whitenight christfag, or one butthurt neckbeard, or schizo obese blue hair feminist, and then BOOM, there goes 80% of your revenue.
Step-cest relationships are outside the Patreon terms of service. The safe path is for you to wipe the presence of such content from your official game releases.
Also you should PRAY VERY HARD that no random hacker starts releasing step-cest or true-cest patches. And if it happens you definitely should publicly disavow such terrible happenings. And edit your previous posts on this or other boards suggesting anything otherwise.
On a completely unrelated note, Anne O'nymous has a very interesting post on creating gameplay/dialogue patches that work better than basic search replace mechanisms.
Hey! Thanks for taking the time to warn me about these things—it's definitely a problem that keeps chasing me, hahaha.
Regarding that, I've been realizing more and more that Patreon is moving toward completely killing adult content on the site, or at least severely limiting what we can or cannot do. They don't let me publish videos or do live streams, and they limit the type of content I post, etc.
As far as I understand, Patreon doesn't actively monitor the content; they only investigate if something is wrong when someone reports it, as you mentioned. This is especially true if the link is external and all problematic keywords are kept off the site.
I don't have many options. Throughout the story, I've been trying to avoid using familial relationship terms, though sometimes in the heat of the moment I end up writing them and forgetting, hahaha! But I will be more careful about that.
I'm not sure if OnlyFans would be a good fit or if SubscribeStar would be better. But I advise people, at least for now, to subscribe on SubscribeStar, because the next content I want to make—I want to be freer to write, hahahahaha.
