VN - Ren'Py - Bad Hero [Ep.2 v3.2.4p] [Xlab]

I had played this game a long time ago, I had good memories of it. So, I wanted to see what it became... But what a disappointment!
I don't know if I'm so old that I forgot or if the author changed everything but damn!
The graphics are globally good, even if I preferred the old MC. The story, not enough to make this game unforgettable, but well, why not. I've seen worse.
On the other hand, the texts, the dialogues, the animations and the dynamics of the game... Here, we touch the depths of the caricature of the worst. It's grotesque to a point rarely seen. Pauses everywhere, forcing you to click 78 times to display "hello, how are you? And since the sentences are rarely longer than 3 words, you often have to click a lot. Menus that are useless every 3 lines. Animations that are only called that because you have 2 or 3 images "in - out - in - out..."..
In short, the idea is not bad in itself, there could even be something really good to do with it, but the realization is terrible.
It is a game where everything is treated in an excessively superficial way... Even the sex scenes...
In short, you will empty the batteries of the mouse before emptying your balls...

The good news is that this is not a game that can be finished in one evening... No, because after 10 minutes of play, you really want to do something else.

I'm surprised this VN has such a low rating. It's campy fun and very entertaining. The over powered protagonist, the beautiful girls, memorable characters and great sex - what more do people want from their VNs? Yeah, there are some annoying aspects but I can overlook that when the game is so good.

This VN is on the higher end of the scale when it comes to visuals - all the character models look distinct and the sex scenes look good. The renders have great and have excellent detail. Looking forward to more.

Very kinetic game, no choices at all, no way to skip any content you may not enjoy. You're just taking along on a wild ride to hell. The transitions are annoying the sex scenes are hard to enjoy, as I mentioned nothing is avoidable and the dialogue is basically: "Start", "Initiate", "Take a closer look" and "Watch". It's nonstop clicking, makes it hard to get into certain scenes.

Render: They're decent.

Animations: Could've been enjoyable, but the Dev wanted to make things hard.

Characters: The main character is a total spaz, who just goes along with anything. None of the women are memorable, none stand out, the daughters are dumb sluts or at least that's how they're written.

Story: What story? Everything is all over the place. None of this have any redeeming quality to it, it's just a bunch of random nonsense slapped together.

This game has good charactors but will annoy the piss out of you. Constant clicking of pointless buttons. "take a closer look" can be your only choice button to hit, a million fucking time over and over again. Guys if there isn't 2 choices or more, there is no reason to add a fucking button. This and the dumb mini games is why this VN has shitty reviews. take a closer look, take a closer look,take a closer look,take a closer look = sums up the game.

The good for me: This game has great sex scenes, awesome models and plenty of kinks. The MC is also a nice change from other games, being more of a "chad".

The bad: Story, dialog and timeline of events are a bit rough around the edges to say the least however I'm honestly not that bothered. For me it was nowhere near as off-putting as other people make it seem in their reviews.

Overall great game, one of my favorites. It's like a 90's American action B movie as porn games go. If you care that much about story and dialog in your porn games you can shave a star or two off the review.

I played this game when it first came out, wasn’t pleased with it, but hoped it would get better as far as the story goes. But nothing really has changed, it feels more like a parody of a game.

If you just want to fap mindlessly without any real plots then you’ll enjoy this.

This game turns out to be one hell of a chaotic mess. Chaotic as in the story is all over the place. The MC, at one moment is having a nice conversation with his daughters, the next second he's fucking some whore in an alley behind a dumpster, then suddenly he's in a gunfight on a highway and the next moment he fucking someone in the gym.
The story appears to be like a Kinetic novel with no major branching, yet there is a shit ton of unnecessary clicking involved. At one point I got really irritated of clicking " watch", " watch"," watch" for every fucking angle and animation in a sex scene.
Also, It looks like the only understanding of the word " Hardcore sex" the Dev has is inserting random objects like bottles and cans into the vagina.
There is nothing special about the characters and they look like the most random bunch of people brought together.

I only wish there were a way to pick zero stars because one is to many.
The writing in this game is bad not only in grammar mistakes but just plain stupid. It seems the dev is trying to copy so many other games and give it his own twist but is doing a very lousy job of it.
Now for the pros:
. . . .. . . Hmm I cant seem to think of one. Oh wait I know the renders are not bad well most of them anyways, the problem is their just not erotic.

Wow this is a hard game to rate. I certainly understand the one stars. . . . but! Let's just say this game has "character" as it says in the travel guides about the trashy sections of Naples Italy.

Let's start with the moles. I've never been a fan of moles, neither in real life nor in comic book girl fantasies. I'm still bewildered at how many developers take a beautiful figure and fill it with moles, as if this makes the body more beautiful. Gross!

Well, this developer knows how to paint on the moles. . . . But not always. A few of the girls are beautiful and without mar.

Like I said . . . character.

One woman has ridiculously sized balloon breasts, and the MC essentially flies on top of her during the deed. It's hilariously wrong.

So bad it's good, in other words.

But other scenes are well drawn and genuinely erotic.


Then we're back with a bum on a mattress outside with beer cans. What???


Then . . . a few grindy puzzles and gang scenes that I just have to skip with the use of a mod or by clicking through as fast as possible.


But then . . . comedy gold hits, and I find myself laughing.

So . . . I'm awarding four stars . . . for its entertainment value when looked at from a certain perspective . . . it's like the trashy parts of Naples Italy where there is literally trash blowing above you in the breeze and hanging from trees while you're eating a delicious lunch. "Character" as the guide book says.

Excellent game. Awesome models and renders.
The plot to porn content ratio is quite good and it doesn't feel like skipping stuff to watch porn scenes.
The story is quite good and immersive unlike your everyday corruption games and it isnt boring at all. Most of the games which try to have good plots just have a very bad ratio of sex scenes to plot but it is quite good here.
Very good vn and a rare gem.

a horribly forced story, a protagonist not at all interesting, and much less, wanting to know more about why or what happened, so that he is like that, boring first minutes and forced moments that do not go anywhere.

I wanted to like this game for its sheer audacity and its smoking hot women. Unfortunately, that was overshadowed by later developments in the "game."

The Good:
--beautiful renders of the women with a decent variety of body types
--the "daughters" are smoking hot. I especially love the youngest daughter and May
--the renders of the men are good enough
--Frank as an anti-hero is audacious and consistently characterized
--some fetishes are incredibly kinky and imaginative (which may appeal to some and turn off others)

The bad:
--The story is a mess
--Frank's vileness starts to wear thin after a while and gets kind of boring, especially since everyone aligned against him appears to be dumb as a box of hammers. Think the Keystone cops posing as the Illuminati
--it's surprisingly repetitive. Though fresh initially it doesn't last
--around the development of the Christmas content, it literally turns into a kinetic novel w/very little if any branching choices
--There are times when Frank and other people's behavior becomes pretty cringy

The main problem with the story is that some of the things that happen just don't make any sense. There are skips in the story and it just becomes a confusing mess. Characters also randomly appear and disappear when convenient to the plot, even though their presence would have caused a problem had they not conveniently disappeared.

There are shadowy characters that are presented as being like an Illuminati-style group that is well-funded, crafty, with friends in high-places where it matters, but are too stupid to figure out the obvious when it comes to Frank's schemes. For instance, he moves his mobile drug lab into a truck that he parks at the mansion where he's living. And the Illuminati and their paid sources in the police dept don't think to check there? Everyone is monumentally stupid . . . except Frank. Some ideas are also introduced like the Devs are retconning the story . . . it makes no sense or it feels like they are filling a massive plot hole with a contrivance after the fact.

It's like the Dev wanted to create a porn version of Breaking Bad but just doesn't have the narrative chops to pull it off. The problem is that these flaws become a major distraction since you have to click through dozens of screens of confusing narratives to get to the porn.

Overall many bad ratings WoW. OK, this is not a Masterpiece of the century. But story and very KINKY sex scenes ( I love all the big things, he used as a sex Toy, jay) deserves 4 stars. You get the Choice to use a very big thermos bottle to fuck a girl, very hot and kinky! I love hot and kinky, it cant be kinky enough! And 1 extra Star because the MC is no 18 year old Looser, who wants to fuck his Mom and Sisters. About the english, i am not an native speaker! It was easy to understand, so for 95% of the World one extra Star. My only thing is, the MC could be smarter, stronger and a REAL BADASS!

One of my all- time favorites and a very rare example where you are NOT returning home after years of blah blah to meet your *childhood friends*.... ARGH and YAWN!

There are like 3 games getting me excited with releases and this is one of them.

The game starts off with an interesting premise. The MC, Frank; has just been released from prison after serving 18 years. The city has changed with a new synthetic drug and an increasing gang problem. Frank seems to jump right back into a life of crime, but he's smart and cautious. There are a number of people against him including the secretive leader of the most powerful gang in the city.

I'd say this is more of a visual novel as there aren't a ton of choices that impact the story (the choices may impact if you get laid or not). None of the characters are particularly well-developed...but I don't know if they need to be as the advantage of not knowing the motivations of the NPCs means, you don't know what side they're on. Other times the motivations are overly simple. There's enough to the story to keep you wondering.

The graphics are slightly above average and the animations are good.

This is an entertaining game. It's not horrible, it's not great but I'm giving it 4 stars as it's interesting enough to keep me engaged.

Never properly reviewed a VN so here goes:
I personally give this a 4/5 purely because of the location/time jumps, there should be some transitions with Later on or The same day at a different location or undisclosed location or smth like that, I saw that there are a few but quite disjointed.
That being said, I laughed out loud more than a few times, cringed a few times as well, and I felt equally disgusted with the character and myself by some of the choices not only out there but necessary to evolve the story line.
For someone who hasn't played this, imagine a self involved sexist and egotistical street thug that learned absolutely nothing in his 18 years in prison, with no humility whatsoever, that gets released and basically tries to do anything and anybody(and if you applied the patch, I do mean anybody) in order to get back the money his ex wife stole from him.
He does have a couple of redeeming actions here and there, just to play into the anti-hero trope, but unfortunately they are too few and far between.

Overall an interesting story, the renders do get better and there are animations as well, the mini games are pretty easy and the characters are quite diverse and even though sometimes disjointed because of how the story is split they are interesting.
I hate that I love the MC(who's name I left as Frank because of my 2 favourite piece of shit human beings named Frank, from It's always Sunny and Shameless) who is basically a mixture of those 2 with the balls of Heisenberg and a horse dick, all of that coupled with Bad Santa and you have a mutant of a horrible human being, and his relationship with Marty is just too funny and a match made in heaven(?).
When it comes to the girls I just like how manipulative Chelsey can be, but still innocent and inexperienced in it, and I just felt so sorry for "Elsa", oh, and Eva is basically a better looking female version of the MC but with less experience, but equally as hateable.

TLDR: If you like shows and movies that are centered around horrid human beings(IASIP, Shameless, Bad Santa, The League) and want to question your own morals, download this VN and play/read it...it does to that, if you don't, no worries there's plenty of other weird stuff out there for everyone.

Anyway it's 4/5 Stars from me, and once it's finished if it delivers on the story and some of the things mentioned above are fixed this is an easy 5 stars.

Im gonna say this is bad. First of all at the beggining there are choices that are no choices at all, and other choices that get you a game over. This causes a bit of confusion.
From there this shit jumps from one character to the other, offering disconnnected sex scenes that you can not skip, so you have to watch some old dudes dick, who is not the mc, and some other character that you dont know and dont care ant its sort of unrelated to anything.

For disconnected sex scenes and irrelevant writing , real porn will always be better.

This jumping around continues and at some point i just skipped, that made it more dificult to understand the game.

It is a disaster and its quite short.

After "playing 1.9.4 the game is still a crap. And Why?
First of all there are so many moments wher you actually have to makea choice that is not a choice, like continue, or inititatie, or watch, and those are pointless and in the same scene you may have to clic 2 of those.

The sex is super free and crazy and sex scenes are kind of mediocre. This kind of justifies why there are so many sex scenes, and why its so easy. What doesnt justify is protecting the younger daughter in this free sex world, cause in the end, there is not a special work put on her scenes, they are as mediocre as the rest.

And to finish, the way scenes are changing from one place adn character to another without any logic in space or time is ridiculous. The game definetly looks good in preview images, but thats the best of it. it is utter trash. Sorry.

It is very clear by playing this game that it has been in development for a long time. Models, animations and the overall gameplay are quite bad at the beginning and improve quite a lot as the game goes on. Looking at the thread, it seems it has been in development for about 3 years now. It has its good stuff and it certainly can improve to become awesome in the future, but it would certainly need a revamp of earlier parts.
