There's a few issues with that, one theoretical and one real.after thinking it over. wouldnt this give the devs they burned over the years an opertunity to poach the project with a reskin?
The theoretical issue deals with contracts. Assuming this was all above-board and a contract was written out (big assumption, given that we ALLEGEDLY don't appear to be dealing with the brightest bulbs in the shed), there could be a non-compete clause buried in there, or something indicating that the devs forfeit their copyright to anything related to Bare Backstreets. If contracts were signed, Jasonafex would almost certainly have enough information to sue the former devs.
The real issue is that the game is such a janky mess that nobody in their right mind would want to base anything on it.
