Is there any other result to the breeding phantom? I either free myself or the farmer finds me, but it feels like there should be more going on when I fail.

There is an issue in version 1.8 (which is fixed in 1.9) in this quest. You should be able to proc a scene with a human (on 1/2 chances) if you were corrupted enough to make some choices. But instead it can only be proc if you are not too corrupted (<1000)...
There will be a second scene with the appropriate mod if corrupted enough, but that will be for later
There is a bug with your money after a certain point it gets haywire and even though you have money a string of code shows and suddenly you can't spend it

This is indeed a bug that happens when handing over bandits at Monbourg's prison. If you have a save before that moment, I would suggest to reload from that point. Or you can use the cheat menu to reset your in game money...
For information, this issue is fixed with version 1.10 along other fixes, changes and new content (including a new companion, the dragon). The next releases changelogs can be found below. It will be released publicly here in a month (on Saturday, 17th May). In the meanwhile, one has to not hand over bandits...

What is the cheat code for 1.8? I understand keeping cheats for the patreons but if you are going to change it anyway why not just give the cheat code for a previous version to the rest of us?
On my way to Bolyam I was defeated as before the wares got confiscated. Now I did not try the caravan to Bolyam, but I could walk there without any further problem and without meeting the demon. Then I acquired the orphanage quest. After defeating the first enemy in the docks a series of messages (3) from the Bolyam guild appeared. It seems that NOW I DID finish the escort quest to Bolyam successfully that previously was removed from my quest list. I was in the docks while this happened. After the message I was kicked out from the docks mining area.
I don't know what was intended for that quest: was it NOT to be done, could it be redone, where was that quest while it was NOT in my quest list? I just think that what happened was NOT intended. Thus I mention what happened here.
Version 1.9.0 is now public after its early release on Patreon / SubcribeStar. The links have been updated and can be found below. For information, version 1.10.1, which include the new Dragon companion, will be public in two weeks. I'm now working on version 1.11.0 which will come with another new companion, the slime humanoid girl.

Handing over bandits at the prison generate money issue (that can only be fixed with the cheat panel by reseting your money). So in the meanwhile, please refrain from handing them over to prevent breaking your save

Being able to go / walk to Boloyam after being defeated in the quest is indeed not the intended behavior. I will look into it for fixes with version 1.11.0 I'm working on. Many thanks for that report.
As a bug report, i do want to mention that while doing the orphanage quest, I was told I lacked -2 water cores. I had fought more water elementals than fire and still needed one fire as well, but was strange to see that.
As said by MobileGrunt, you indeed might need to let in game time pass (by sleeping for example). More quests will appear (repeatable quests and/or one time quests).

how about we wait a bit so the dev can make some money from that first otherwise this could cause the dev to remove the cheats or make a separate public version in which the cheats dont work or just abandon the game entirely
