I think disdain for him began in the latter half of BTQ. That's when his delay parade went full time. It took him around 14 months for BTQ 4, 12 more for BTQ 5, another 6 of hyping a seamless clip of BTQ 1-5, and finally about 5 or so months to release both bonuses. Total run time about an hour and half across a span of a slightly more than 3 years. That's not a lot of content for over 200 dollars of support per member if they stayed on for that span.
What people don't understand is that it's perfectly fine to hate the process but enjoy the eventual outcome... and that's what happens with him. But again, no one can honestly defend his delays/excuses/remixed posts from week to week or month to month. Hell he's gone past at least 3 or 4 deadlines for his game this year alone with no end in sight.
And of those delays, there's far too many for them to be random at this point. Go back to most of the BTQ saga. How many times did he post a carbon copy "issue" for each part? How many technical issues can you have across multiple projects and not learn from or avoid them outright? How long did he blame his VA real life issues during the bonus development cycle? And then to turn around and use the same excuse for himself though he did pause collections for a bit.
It's clear he isn't truthful by any stretch or at the very least, vastly over estimates his skill in video/game development. Its become a meme at this point as his delays are not only expected, but predicated time and time again from troll to loyal sub. But for those subs, you can't tell me he hasn't noticed losing thousands since BTQ days to today. He's maintained around 3800ish... a far cry from his heyday. And for BITS cycle, he hasn't really gotten many new subs or they cancel the one's fed up with waiting, or just found it for free.
I think if he started making deadlines, he'd gain support back. Or at the least, release more content along the way. The teaser was a glorified walking sim and now it turns out most of the previews he showed over the last 2 years wont be in this upcoming release but a future one! Hello 2024/25! Until his ethic changes, he dserves the levels of hate he gets.
1) You don't catch autism by trying to follow a large topic on a person. You might go temporarily insane, like I did, trying to understand the truth / who was being truthful, in the Heard v Depp trial though.
2) We are on a pirating site. Most people here don't "need" to subscribe to him to get his stuff... or anyone's stuff for that matter.
3) Animo may be telling the truth when he says the art, music, animations, are all done. The issue is a programmer has to put all those assets into a game world and then script them together to make an interactive experience. So there may be unforseen issues that crop up during the programming phase and that delays stuff.
However, he should do a better job clarifying what is actually fully complete.
4) I wouldn't say he has nothing to show for it. He at least got out a Teaser demo. There are other artists out there, like Likkezg, that have been teasing a demo for their stuff for at least 2-3 years and still haven't produced anything and yet still draws in a ton of dough. Or Wild Life saying that they were actually making an Open World game, when its basically just a sex simulator.
5) Crowdfunded porn game... you mean like that one that Studio FOW made that was and still is crap
I can't even remember that game's name anymore. Actually there is quite a few bad games out there that are basically crowd-funded porn game that isn't really a game or fun.

Update now it's a different excuse from last time, assumedly the sex bug is fixed, says the game now works but has 'features' to work on now. No mention of those last update.
Edit: Animo answered a comment confirming there is no sex scenes with the horse, the game ends before you have 'tamed him'

I didn't mean i "caught autism" CUZ of the cancerous discussion, more like I was worried if my autistic tendencies pre-"AnimoPr0n's Beasts in the Sun: Civil War (tm)" were clouding my vision of the situation.
Also, whenever I talk about supporters and crowdfunding, I was probably being too general. To me at least, I don't really assume anyone here (including myself) is an actual supporter, let alone people that go here on lurker accounts (like i was for a little while)... kinda just me blabbing and gossiping at this point about something that was (and still does seem) pretty interesting.
Afaik, crowdfunding is a very general category, right? I always figured patreons and such were some form of it, given they fit the moniker: a product that is funded by the public that subscribe/donate to a creator/work in progress. I guess for Substar/Patreon though its more of an over-time deal instead of a strict goal-deadling/backer thing that i've heard about with Kickstarter or indieGoGo.
(I haven't tried the Studio FOW game but I've heard that despite its efforts, it was kinda lacking in both being a game and being a porn sim/porn product... damn shame that one : \ )
Funny you mention Likkezg, cuz i've tried his half life demo and it was pretty fun. But i think that guy was pretty open about their focus being on other things and when they were gonna put the Alyx project on the backburner/abandoned.
It's something I just wish Animo would do, in terms of blunt honesty and evidence of recent (at the time of posting) assets or work. It's not really a needed thing since people that support him are essentially donating to a creator they like, but I think it'd at least help from an optics perspective, y'know?

i dont know if he actually thinks his supporters are that dumb to eat up what he has been typing for years when it comes to delays, just so he can get his monthly payment. All of em know, im sure...

Usually I never comment since I am also here to get the game for free. But I have to say, in those who support it, I participated in various Kickstarter projects to get games even in physical version by paying much less. And I'm not talking about little games, one above all Thimbleweed Park by Ron Gilbert, Maybe someone knows it.
Mostly this porn games are basically early access for payment wall and it's okay if you know this money go to support developers and project. on other side it's like double edged sword in development game. Most this projects are intentionally cash grab for little or nothing. Few go to full release and to Steam or will be released free in some time.
If we can talk about Animo, then problem stay his hype on ETA, delays and attitude to supporters.
