But there is nothing added to the story, as that is for EP2.

Sooo, I downloaded the latest build of this from here, when I get past the opening cutscene I get stuck at a black screen maybe with a quest indicator and the main character's hands going in and out of frame and I can't do anything.

if you mean the one near the horus statue that chest was actualy available in version 3

Got NG+ to work(too many secrets locks the save), now the only bug is you cant get past this. Since he updated things to stay open, things are already "done" essentially locking you in this little pond.
