But again, they have time to add in cutscenes, but not enough time to color in existing levels. Not to forget a lot of those cutscenes are just scribbling or drawing.
Why does it matter so much which specific things got done? While some of what they added is incomplete, that's still a huge step forward in the progress of the game's development. You have to do line work before anything else in the artistic process, and a lot of that is on display. That shows you that they have these things planned out and ready to put work in to make them come to fruition.

In my eyes the dev that added cutscenes =/= dev that adds color. First they would make something so it works, and after polish it. You don't create all of the assets for a game before you even know you can use them.
Also I'm pretty sure the vast majority of the time spent on bb was making it compatible with as many devices as possible for the steam release (seeing as how all game news have been compatibility updates, before they said the game is nearing to full release in a month or two like yesterday)

My sole wish is an XBOX control overlay, or at least a rebind. When I slip up and panic, suddenly I'm reacting to either colours or labels, and so I'll go for the X and Y buttons for X, B for C, and Z and V get caught in the kerfuffle. Be great to have a toggle for controller prompts, or even just switching X to X would make life SO much easier.

because people don't play an animated porn rhythm game for cutscenes they play it for the animated levels and when this aspect of the game goes completely neglected for months on end it can call into question why these things have not been completed yet, like you said they're right there, the blueprints are right there and the dev can produce animation, we know that because they will invest a lot of time to animate their shitposting on twitter, it kind of makes it seem like they're deliberately taking their sweet time while sitting on a platform that bills supporters monthy, i dunno some people might call that milking their fans for every last cent i wouldn't do that tho they posted that roadmap that said the levels would be finished this month so i expected them to come out soon :)

Well, fuck the March thing I guess, now it's "one month until the game comes out" (as of exactly yesterday) according to a Tweet.

I am holding on to hope that if they are confident in the next month release, then that would probably mean that the rest of the leveles were done, but not given out (or the artists are cracked enough to try and complete all drawings that fast)

Just played this game. I kinda liked it though I was surprised that some loops will only arrive on harder difficulties will surely test it out later.

If you actually are in the community, you see what regular progress updates look like. Yeah, maybe the devs aren't spending a literal 100% of their time working on the game. There's another game also being worked on, and people like to do creative things in their off-time too. But they aren't exactly slacking either. Getting the stuff done that went into this update was a lot of work, and it needed to get done sooner rather than later. The game's framework being able to accommodate everything that you want the game to do is a higher priority than filling out animation content to completion. And now that they've done that work, it will be easier to get content finished and then release the game.

they literally just dropped a charting tool as well for the new system, likely to be fudged around a bit if there's any more slight changes to the game itself but yeah. Not to mention on twitter they announced support for custom stories so people can create their own campaign and not just stand alone levels. I won't argue that this game has been taking a lot longer than I'd like for it to finish but it's been making strides lately especially. It's preparing for future potential rather than a hard release that'll be a pain in the ass to mod.

Pretty decent rhythm game. Kinda wish all the notes had their own line though, "guitar hero" style. But maybe I just need to get gud.

It was different in the 1.X version, where the different colored note types had specific durations. You could read the rhythms on sight. Not that there's a problem with the new flexibility or anything, just that the older limitations made it easier to play levels on first read.
