I don't agree, I think that game maintains a relatively spooky atmosphere the entire time that game is a good example of how to pace monster games, like sure the girl no longer feels like a threat (she never was) but it still feels eerie and abnormal. Whereas this one completely flips the atmosphere it goes from a scary monster story to essentially just a muscle girl dommy mommy fetish story where the girl being a monster is essentially irrelevant.

It's made even worse because this one started like she was a literal beast
Yeah, after playing both I think Mal0vent plays the monster girl thing better; even in act two when we generally know what Mal-0's "deal" is there's still a decent amount of mystery and even danger surrounding her (hell, even the sex with her is potentially dangerous). It feels like they added stuff to the lore of 1471 to make it fit into the story they were telling, whereas with 682 it feels like they removed stuff instead. Like it's still good, but it just feels like something's missing.

The thing about 682 is that the core SCP article has so many other references in the SCP-verse because 682 is the metric by which you use to judge if your SCP is bad/stupidly OP. No matter what your SCP's super-awesome-mega-fuck-you thing is, it can't beat 682. No exceptions. That means there's a plethora of articles and interconnections, not all of them worth mentioning. The ones that are worth mentioning I've done my best to include as nods or direct references in the game itself.

That all said, it's clear from reviews here that BC isn't hitting as hard as our other games. But that's okay. I'd still take a B- or C+ grade if it meant people were still having fun with the game/story.

I mean I ain't gonna touch on the lore. Not my particular forte. But it ain't like the game is bad. It's just the initial release came off like it was going for a horror feel. Then the next version jumped to a waifu simulator. As if two different people were working on things. Or a chunk of the story is missing.

I mean I'm personally not too bothered. Current path and dynamic is something I like anyway. And I don't doubt it would've eventually went in that general direction. Maybe not as light hearted, but in that general area. But it was just a sudden tonal shift. And if you really liked how it started and wanted more of that. You was kinda out of luck rather quickly.

Yeah, on the other hand, Mal.0 is generally easier to work with and has great porn potential. You can make a nice mystery stalker horror with her and keep some tension for a long time and really the whole experience is up to you.

Well.People had slightly different expectations, otherwise it's not a bad game, but Mal.0 just set the bar high enough and now you're going to have a problem. ..You have to make bad games and then surprise with a good one. And be careful with the self-rating.:D

As it's been said the 0.2 of the game isn't BAD it's just completely different from 0.1, whilst there is an overlap the people who want creepy tense dramatic type stories and people who want light silly stories are not the same audience. And even if they are the same, people don't want their horror game to transform into a comedy with 0 forewarning, especially since scary dramatic type monster girl stories are quite rare.

If there were 2 different games one with a 0.2 atmosphere/genre and one with a 0.1 atmosphere/genre they would both likely be good games aimed at different people it's just the fact that it goes from one to the other that has left people disappointed.

It's as if I was watching the godfather and half way through the movie at a pivotal moment it just becomes the barbie movie just with the same characters and a vaguely similar plot, like sure they are both good movies but they have such contrasting tones that combining the 2 is completely nuts and would baffle anybody watching even if they like both kinds of movie.
That's an extreme example but it is essentially how I felt when I first played the 0.2 update

Yeah, and even beyond the version jump, while playing it for the first time in v2, the whiplash is fairly strong to the point that I genuinely thought they skipped some arcs and simply went straight for the waifu approach to keep engaging.

If i had to make a suggestion, it would be to make v2 a the third arc instead of the second, since a transition arc is probably works best for 682

The sudden escalation/lewd work with Malovent (especially with that v3 version) because Malo is one of those few scp that arent lethal

But 682 just doesn't—the jump feels jarring and cheap
