As I'm done rendering for AL, I have started working on animations for BADIK. It's almost time to start working seriously on this project, but since it's Christmas I will squeeze in some time to rest up, too. I've been working my ass off to bring you the final AL Episode.

One thing I want to improve upon, in general, is animations. I love producing animations!
I don't want to promise something I can't deliver, but as I'm writing this a 400 frames animation is rendering on my two PCs. It will result in a 17 second long animation, flawlessly looping while having unique motions throughout.
I have never attempted this before and it will take me 7-8 days to render this animation, using both PCs at full effect. It's a huge commitment to a single animation, but that's what I want for BADIK. I don't want to hold anything back.

In general, it will be difficult reporting progress on BADIK. Because, I will be doing longer animations than before. I could say "Hey guys! This week I did two animations!" and you might say "That's all?", when in fact those two animations could be equal to 400 renders.

My main concern when reporting future progress is that the animation count doesn't reflect the work and quality behind them. That's something that will feel different from before in these status updates.

Due to my full-time job and because I want to do BADIK bigger and better, I will never be able to release monthly again. Before you start comparing me to what other developers do, remember, I'm a one man team. I will state this clearly on my updated Patreon page, but I don't want to have to say it in every status update from now on. So, that's why I'm informing you of this right now. I will do my best to bring you quality content as fast as possible and to always keep you updated; that I can promise!

I won't report any progress on BADIK until after AL is released, but today I want to announce the name of the game, the synopsis, a new patreon goal and the Patreon tiers that will take effect starting January 1st, 2019.

I intend to start updating the Patreon page a few days before New Years Eve.
The Discord server will be updated starting the week after the release of AL Episode 8.

Now to the fun stuff!

The name of the new game is Being a DIK

Synopsis:

A young man, from a low-income family, moves away from his widowed father and his summer love to attend college at Burgmeister & Royce. As he is cast into freshman life and persuaded to join the up-and-coming fraternity Delta Iota Kappa, he'll be exposed to a new world filled with conflicts, alcohol, drugs and sex.

Wait a moment, maybe we have rejoiced too soon...
We haven't figured out what delta, iota and kappa stand for... :oops:
They're typical greek letters used for sorority and fraternity names. DIK has actually been used before in novels and movies. :p
edit: Oh, looks like Delta Iota Kappa is an actual (self proclaimed) prestigious frat in one of the Virginia colleges...

am I the only one that thinks animations are a huge waste of time?

The payoff doesn't even come close to matching the amount of work that goes into it. It actively detracts from a scene if done poorly. Not to mention most animations lack dialogue. As if a 3 second loop of vanilla sex will be enough to get off to.

I don't know how the animations will turn out in this game, but I would rather have those resources go into faster releases. Good dialogue during scenes with variations and multiple positions is good enough imo.

i rather get the second option

For me, the advantages of porn games over videos is all in the writing. The visuals are there to complement the writing, not the other way around. Don't you think the majority of sexual stimulation from these games stem from the plot circumstances that leads to the scene, characters, dialogue, fetishes, etc. Good renders are nice, but that alone is never enough to fap to.

At best, the animations are incorporated into the scene nicely with dialogue during the loops. At worst, we have a subpar animation with no text that no one will bother to watch past 2 loops. It certainly adds to a scene if its done very well, but I don't think the amount of time it takes to render is worth it.

Sound argument but not everyone thinks the same way you do. It's fairly obvious that there's players who might not be interested in the story and many prefer a light-hearted mood from the game 'Because "pron" games are made for fapping only'. That's where the emphasis on visuals is a huge plus.
