If I may, how many actual lights have you got in your scene? ever heard of 3 point lighting? you should look into it, it would greatly improve your render. plus you have 2 lamps in the background, that could very well be used to create a realistic soft atmosphere. with a ceiling and a facing soft light, you could use those 2 to create a 3rd lightsource to nicely outline your model, while getting rid of sharp shadows, and bring some softness to your scene.

light is incredibly hard to figure out, I have the theory, but i'm struggling a lot with it myself.

what can help is to check out all some of the light preset addons for Daz. while you might not want to use them as they are, it's great to reverse engineer and try to figure out how it's done. I know DM assests sometimes come with them, and I've personally learnt a lot when I started.

The environment came with build in lights, there are 3 light sources: the two lamps and ceiling, the two lamps are turn off

Nice! My favorite is the second one. Surprising, I know. :rolleyes:

And about Maya's model's assets, while I like the hair shape overall, more than the new hairstyle for episode 10, the hair model itself looks quite simple and lacking detail in comparison to other hair models used by other characters in the game. And her skin has been a reason for criticism a lot of times. It does look pretty bad, yeah. However, it is precisely the skin by Digital Touch she uses that determines most of her appearance. In other words, use a different skin on her and you no longer have the Maya we all know.
