I had a number of connected Sage-related epiphanies this morning.
So, they key thing with Sage, that most separates her from the vast majority of Genesis3-8 characters is her \_/-shaped chin. My on/off quest to replicate her has been focused on finding all the possible characters with that type of chin, and then cutting down from there. The major mistake I've done (in addition to regularly forgetting past research) is not being rigorous with the release dates of the characters. So for the past few days I've been focusing on anything released in 2018 or before.
The first thing I noticed was something I did have in my old notes, and that several characters designed in part by Sabby of SASE and FWSA fame do have the right type of facial structure. In fact, so many, I'd given up once. But now that I applied the 2018/genesis 8 criteria to their oeuvre, I managed to cut down the number significantly, in fact eliminating all the SASE characters from Rendo as too new. This left me mostly with the products from the tail end of the FWSA collaboration.
When I started going through systematically, I found a character that has a particular set of secondary characteristics that Sage's face morph also has. She has small depression in the middle of her chin and a small v-shaped ridge between her nostrils. While I've always been aware of these, I've always figured it's just a tacked-on HD morph or something
Let me illustrate, I cba to play the game to find better examples, so they are kind of poor even in the best reference picture I had (I try to keep my reference pictures as close to a 0 face as possible, so they aren't usually the best for other small details):
As I mentioned, I discovered a previously overlooked character, who had the right facial shape and those secondary characteristics:
That's Treasa for Eva 8, so basically shared a part of the Khloe/Heather morph.
I know some of you guys want to replicate the characters as closely as possible (even if most don't care), but I'm still sharing the current stage of my research. I think this is the most promising lead so far, also due to the fact that my previously closest attempt was with some FWSA genesis 3 head morphs.
I even have a theory of what the other half could be, assuming she's the standard "2 characters mixed in at lower percentages" design most AVN main girls are.
