Happens a bit especially with OOT hair, i would suggest also locking it after you have done it. Also do a spot render on the forehead and sides to double check. You can also increase the head size and that should fix a lot of it too.

Using the smooth shaded preview, gives you a great idea if you've adjusted the hair enough.
