hi, can someone explain why when I save images from f95zone on my computer they don't open and it says that the file is damaged?!
Your probably saving the pre-view. Depending on your browser plugins that'll be 7 different kinds of "Not an Image". Click on it in the post, then the little box with an arrow on it at the top right hand corner of the image preview.

Because now the images when they are sent to f95zone become ".avif", so when you download an image, it comes like this "image.png.avif", the computer will say that it is .png, .jpg, etc, but it is .avif. So it looks like it is corrupted.
Try this plugin if you're on Chrome.

Converting an image into PNG or JPG that is already converted into AVIF from PNG or JPG may not be the best idea.

While converting an AVIF into a PNG won't make it lose any quality (since PNG is lossless), the resulting PNG of the same quality as AVIF is a several times larger file (4 or even more times) without any PNG benefits. You can't unfuck it back into original PNG quality, since AVIF compression is lossy and the original quality is already gone.

Re-compressing AVIF into a JPG is even worse, since it's also a lossy format, just different kind of lossy and you will lose even more of image quality, altough the file size may not be much larger than the downloaded AVIF.

Much better idea would be to keep them in AVIF format as they are and add AVIF support to your OS instead.

Linux should be supported already (unless you haven't installed AVIF libs from the official repository of your distribution).

And this should help with Windows PC's and Macs:

OK, support added, funny if I save the image as jpg or png, whatever it comes up as, it won't load into photoshop but it will load in windows, if I save it as avif it loads into Photoshop. My brain turns to mush, when I try to understand all this. Sadly the viewer I like to use ACDSEE pro 9 doesn't have support for avif.

I think I'll stick to using the Chrome plugin, it works across everything I have installed, I don't need new versions of software that don't currently support it. I'm not a professional artist, where compression and lossless quality is everything, I create porn in Daz, fan art.

Technically a 1050ti will work, you'll just have to be very frugal with what you put in the scene. It's more than enough for a single character. ...well not "more than enough". "Barely enough." But you can get them for like $5.
All my renders from early in 2022 and before for on a 1050TI. And I had two characters in a lot of scenes, but I would hide any object and some body parts that were not visible (hiding them means they are not sent to the video card). I also used some addons which reduced the texture size for objects which helped a lot at the time.

thanks everyone for the answers, unfortunately since i'm currently stuck with an i5 8400 and a crappy RX 580, guess i won't be doing much rendering anytime soon...

maybe later in 2025 i'll be able to "upgrade" to a 1080ti

(with the heavy taxes no way i'll be able to afford a 2000 or 3000 series card before the 2020's are over)
What I used to do years ago, when I wanted a new video card, was to put away just $100 a month until I had enough to buy one. Heck,y the computer I am on now I build with only $100 a month. I planned out what I wanted for it, then I bought it one part at a time. It took me 9 months. Then I started to save for my video card. You can save $1200 a year, which is more than enough for a 3060. I think my 3060 12G model cost me around $400, that's 4 months at $100 a month which most people can save.
