Interesting idea, though if that were the case wouldn't we still be able to see the status bar after getting permanent affinity (rather than just listing our affinity)? I think it's more likely the available options in future Major Decisions will be limited by our previous choices (like how we can only fight Caleb if we fought the jocks in Episode 2).
Worth it or not, DPC saw you coming and disabled the ability to fast forward through the concert (all the concerts, actually). You can bypass the current song entirely if you insist, but holding Tab does nothing.so, that recital... is it worth not skipping with tab?
I can't agree that the system is well made: it's insanely overcomplicated, unnecessarily confusing, and the logic behind what qualifies as a 'Major Decision' is at best tortured.
Nonetheless, I am grudgingly forced to agree that it does do its job well enough. It's a simple way to help define the MC's personality, add replay value, and - while the details are highly debatable - the gist of DIK/CHICK dichotomy is easy enough to grasp at first glance.
IMHO DPC could have done better, but even so the game is better off for having the Affinity system in it.
