Yea that was my question basically. If we're gonna see the typical ep. 7 playthrough which was quite nice and sustainably fast or the disaster of ep. 9, which I hope was a one time mess eventually easy to forget by later plot progress. I guess we'll see
In my opinion, Ep.9 was good, as I've said many times before, but it's best seen as "good" for new players who haven't waited tediously for a year to see the story unfold. Episode just felt different.
To answer one more of your questions: DPC doesn't do milking, this guy just can't control his overblown inspiration and he is terrible manager. The main problem is long animations, everything is the same as in Ep.9. Almost all of the work is done, except for the animations, which are about 25% incomplete. He's upgraded the hardware to RTX4090 and is building a couple more new rigs, but he's probably using them to increase the amount of cinematics and visuals in them (as many predicted lol  )

I would hope Madame can because she pretty much got nothing else. That's going for lowest hanging fruit

That's enough of that! You villainous swine whose magnitude is only matched by the simpyness of Joshy and Karamba combined! How very dare you. I shall be writing a VERY strongly worded letter to my local politician! Dictating to them that you don't even know where the line is anymore! An habitual line crosser! Not only that! no no no! Thou'st dare to say the buxom milf beauty is low tier! The audacity! Mayhaps one should go to the local opticians to get some new glasses! Clearly your vision is greatly impaired!

It's possible, I have negative opinion of the dev from prior actions, which skews everything. Also I am too much of a conclusion-hungry chimp to be giving benefit of the doubt :ROFLMAO: allow me this simple pleasure in life.

Even if he makes a few more episodes like Ep9, you'll still play it and you know it.
:ROFLMAO:
Of course. Do as I say, not as I do and all that :ROFLMAO:

I'm guessing episode 10 will be similar to 7 or 8 with the only difference being that these freeroams will be much bigger. Imagine an 8 episode with three freeroams like a dorm party. We don't really know much about episode 10. To summarize:
1) There will definitely be a Thanksgiving freeroam and it will be outdoors
2) There will be a time skip.
3) There will be final freeroam in a brand new environment. It will either be a freeroam at Neil's house or the rock band concert that Zoey called MC to in ep9.
4) There will be a big focus on branching
5) Canonical scenes that combine scenes with different LI's will probably be few. The game will be more LI-centric.
6) There will be new minigames( updated brawler, chemistry minigame, beer pong).

To summarize, ep10 will probably be the most extensive and content-filled episode. It will have the most renders and animations, and according to DPC the episode will be a big deal even for solo players. This means that branching will essentially become an integral part of the story.
the ninth chapter has the same plot content as the previous chapters (very little), the only difference being that normally we had several freeroams (in the DIKs' mansion, in the HOTs' mansion, in the domitorium, in the Preps...) with plot moments between them, in the ninth the different freeroams, all set at the party, seemed to be a single freeroam and the plot parts became flashbacks recalled during the party

but there we are, very little happened in the ninth chapter as very little happened in the chapters before.

Add to this the fact that the party was a huge "click randomly on all the rooms hoping something will happen", as there was very little correlation between the various tasks to be completed.

Unlikely. Why would Vinny want to spy on the DIKs. That does not make sense.

That's interesting so Chad wasn't at the EP5 jocks party. Did Chad, Troy and a bunch of other guys trash DIK Mansion? Why? Chad found out so Dawe blackmailed him because Dawe wanted to be President of the Alphas. The pics of Arieth fucking some DIKs were just a distraction to portray Dawe as a victim. Dawe can only have gotten the pictures from a DIK. From Nick. By leaving Nick Zimmer alone, Chad wanted to cast suspicion on Nick because Nick is the mole who gave Dawe the pictures.

Chad came to the Halloween party for the secret cameras that may have recorded Chad destroying the DIK Mansion. He has to do this or he'll get kicked out of college by Stephen Burke. He wants to destroy evidence.
I am almost 100% sure that you are right about the dude in the mask being Chad. Form seems to fit to Chad's.

Anyone knows if episode 10 is planned to be another long free roam where you find a mojito bottle? or an actual content like prior to ep.9? I couldn't find any recent progress log among the thousands of people people who unsuccessfully argue that Josy is not the best path. Just seeing if I should be on the lookout for release or wait for ep. 11. cheers
You nailed it. Skip the next update, then come back in 2 years.

DPC seemed to be talking about one big free roam that would be a Thanksgiving party and a few smaller ones. Judging by his words, I counted 4-5 free roams, which is no different from previous standard episodes, only in Ep. 10 will be a little bigger. Episode 5: Preps party, short after party at Bella's house before bed, in the morning at Bella's house another bigger one. (Total count: 3)
Episode 6: Free roam in the DIKs mansion, in the library, in the DIKs mansion again, MacAllen's bar (total count: 4)
Episode 7: Free roam in your room, in your room again, big HOTs party, at the DIKs mansion (Total count: 4)
Episode 8: Free roam in your room, room again, big Dorm party, DIK mansion (Total count: 4)

As we can see, the number of free roams doesn't change much, but they have become larger due to the growth of the game size in Ep.7. I'm sure that in Ep.10 it will be the same and Ep.9 was an exception, which is suitable as a one-time experiment. The scheme from Ep.7-8 is optimal for me, we get a plot and a party to relax.
Also worth considering the form of the overall seasons. Episode 1 was the introduction, so had a different job to do; but Episode 5 (first of season 2) was pretty heavily contained to one free roam (the prep's party), so there is a consistency to the form there. As George Lucas would say, it rhymes. I suspect we will see much the same, in terms of form, for this season.

  • Episode 9, big party, not a massive amount of story, just paying off some of the last episode, and setting up some of the mini-games and story themes from the upcoming season.
  • Episode 10, maybe D&G, setting up the rest of the season, no major shocking developments.
  • Episode 11, maybe D&G, progressing the over arching story line a bit more, bringing the season conflicts to a head.
  • Episode 12, settling the season story lines, and any major break in the overall story line (which, given this is likely the second to last season, it will likely end with the event which sets off the major climax of the game, which may well be dependent on the LI you choose). The first two seasons largely followed this general outline, and I would be surprised if this one didn't follow suit.
You want a big story like this to have smaller self contained units of various sizes. DPC has chosen to break it down into both seasons and episodes, but each one has to make SOME degree of sense on it's own.

Basically what it boils down to is big picture vs. little details.

For those of us who have been here for at least two episodes, viewing the game as a whole is very difficult. But for those who come in with fresh eyes, it's easier to appreciate the beauty of it all.

I never cared for the software and hardware updates until after episode 5 when the wait times started to increase, like a crackpot looking for my next fix and doing all the math to see how much time was left. But that's only because I've been part of this community, specifically this thread, for so long. 4 years of repetitive exposure to dalli_x will do that to you I guess.

Having been following DPC myself since midway through Acting Lessons (May-June 2017), I have sympathy for the fans who have begun to lose faith in DPC but the record doesn't show evidence that he will stop or deviate anytime soon. Since he started in 2016 I haven't known him to not have at least some idea of where he's headed unlike many "milkers" out there. DPC's only problem truly is restraint, as a solo developer though, that's irrelevant.

I don't like it, but as my daughter's mother once said to me when handing me custody papers, "The path to all our happiness is through compromise." For the sake of my continued enjoyment of this game in the future, I choose to refrain from voicing my bitterness about DPC's flaws and focus on the positives of which there are many. Whether it takes 3-5 years or more to see it through doesn't matter, I'm 40 this year and I've spent longer on things that left me dissatisfied and resentful but I'm still around.

To be honest my expectations are low and I don't expect anything from DPC, the only thing that has excited me about Chapter 10 is the brwaler update.

Oh, I see what you're trying to do.
You want to discredit the good intentions of the DPC.
But you're trying in vain. It won't work.
After all, everyone knows how much DPC cares about users of F95zone.
Especially about users F95zone.
Heartfelt and sincere care.
Hands off this holy man who gave the world the greatest jewel - the Divine Quinn. :cautious:

After looking at the thread page number and multiplying it by the number of posts displayed per page, I've learned that there's almost a quarter of a million posts in this thread, no matter what you think of DPC the motherfucker is doing something right when a pirate porn forum's members feel compelled to incessantly schizo post about the plot of the game, or whine about slow development time for a game that has I don't even know how many hours of content.

I have heard it said that there are two types of writers, those who are architects and those who are gardeners, the architects already knowing the insides and outsides of their stories and have it all figured out from the start, they only go about assembling the various parts as they go along, and the gardeners who plant a seed and let it grow, I would claim that DPC is a third kind, and that BADIK is more akin to a medieval cathedral, where the plans were continuously updated along with the construction, DPC knows what he's building but he's constantly deciding to add more shit onto it making the fucking thing take centuries to finish.

I am totally ok with big updates that are a cohesive story, I love big updates. But things like these cinematics, I feel like he's going too far with them.
Please no D&G anymore

I've been playing since Acting Lessons, but actively following the development since 2022. I've always been easy on the DPC, allowing fairly mild criticism, after all, "his project is his vision." It's just that the latest status report made me swallow some black pills. No, I'm not disappointed in DPC, this game is still a level above anything else in the genre, but the wait time is really getting bigger and bigger and all because of the animations and his immoderate appetite for creativity. This guy needs a balance or we won't see the end of the game until 2030 with this trend.

I hope that I have enough inspiration to hold out until the end. After all, I'm still waiting for HL3.
