Haha! I know, right? The story has two subplots that I'll never understand why they're still mysterious at this point. The first one is the uncertainty regarding Lynette's last name, and the other is the reason why Maya does not want to find a job to pay off her debts.

Imagine for a moment that you are Tremolo. How hard could it be to have this conversation with your father? :LUL:

Tremolo: Hey, dad.
Neil: Hi, son.
Tremolo: Can I ask you a question?
Neil: Sure.
Tremolo: What is my mom's last name?
Neil: It is Burgmeister (or Rockefeller, or Rothschild, etc.).
Tremolo: Thank you.

:KEK::KEK::KEK:
Yeah, many subplots written by DPC are super retarded. MC not knowing his mother's background or even surname is the same as him not knowing Sage's last name throughout a whole semester of college, even if she was his fuckbuddy/close friend and her surname (and relation to Tybalt) is widely known, as proved in Episode 9 when Kylie casually talks to her about her family.

DPC is clearly an able writer who can easily write an engaging, interesting story. But at the same time he has a tendency to overly dramatize everything and many of his ideas seem like they well taken straight out of a low quality soap opera. Most of the drama is generated through creating improbable coincidences, like "your crush back home is the same girl who is in a secret lesbian relationship with your crush in college" and many others.

This attitude, that it's somehow wrong to spank a child, is what creates Tybalts.
Really what creates people like Tybalt has nothing to do with how much discipline or punishment he got as a child. They could’ve beat him on a daily basis—or even beat and abuse them, as it’s rumored Donald Trump did to Don Trump Jr.—and he’d still turn into the same little shit he has. He’s a little shit because they pay his bills. That one fact undoes any discipline they ever gave him.

Contrast Tybalt with Sage, who not only won’t take the Burkes’ money, but yells at Quinn for even suggesting the idea at their car wash. That’s a line she refuses to cross. Crossing it for Maya was a big deal to her. Yeah, it’s because she’s emotionally fucked up in different ways. But enough about her; back to Tybalt.

Bitch doesn’t have a job. The Burkes probably got him the preps presidency too. He buys himself ridiculously expensive watches, tailored suits, a cello, imported sparkling wine (which he wastes for Rooster likes), and hired an entire sorority as escorts for his frat’s party. He can buy all the friends he wants, and never has to develop kindness, empathy, loyalty, a sense of humor, a talent, or any of the other qualities which usually get people to like you. The money easily compensates for his shit personality.

He thinks of the Burkes’ wealth as his wealth—and y’know, if they never turn off the money tap, he’s not wrong. In order to justify his life and behavior to himself, he’s obviously adopted a social Darwinist worldview: somehow he’s worthy of it. All evidence to the contrary, somehow he got himself there. As he tells the MC in the showers (in my game he’s called Trey, and here he’s knocked Tybalt’s bridge out):
Tybalt. The racket I play with, you couldn’t afford.
Trey. Why are you even telling me this?
Tybalt. Becaushe you walk around like you’re a winner when we both know that you’re not.
Trey. Yeah, sure. I’m a big loser because my parents couldn’t afford the things yours could.
Tybalt. You couldn’t be more wrong. You could try, but you’d fail at that ash well. I, too, come from poverty.
Trey. Haha! That’s a good one. So, you’re a “loser” like me then?
Tybalt. No, I have rishen from the pit. My journey and where it hash taken me are what make me a winner.
The rich people I know, are fully aware this is exactly what their kids will turn into if they spoil them. Doesn’t matter how much they correct them. Money is power, and power corrupts. So they simply don’t give their children money. Their kids don’t get allowances; they’re required to work for it. (Sometimes with household chores; sometimes with actual jobs.) They’re fully aware turning their kids into entitled brats like Tybalt will ruin them for life, and they’re not having that on their watch.

Now, if they die and the kids inherit their wealth, and that corrupts them… well at least they tried.

Has he addressed why he doesn't want to that? Interpolation is the first thing I thought about when I saw all the hooplah about increasing the FPS for animations.

I know I'm one of the few when I say this but I actually like most of the mini-games. The party planning one in Ep 9 was actually pretty creative and was the highlight for me. But the word-finding mini-games are just tedious.

I think I disagree with this but I have to think about it some more. I just don't think render count is a good indication for amount of content. I think it comes down to more of those renders are allocated.

It also feels more like a unique problem for BADIK because of the amount of balls DPC has to juggle and the fact that he's designed his game in a way that you have to replay it at least 5 times to see most everything. But in the end, I think it comes down striking a correct balance between ... maybe something like scene variations and overarching parts of the game you see regardless of any choices.

I'm more inclined to believe DPC needs that amount of renders to barely cover everything each episode whereas other VNs either switch off focusing on a few each episode while moving the MC around/moving the story along or just have a smaller number of branching paths. You're either not going to have to replay that many times or it's going to have a lot more unique path content while not at the expense of the overarching parts of the game.

Ep 9's Halloween party had over 2700 renders alone. There are alternate renders depending on variables mixed in there as well but for the most part, you're going to see the same stuff at least 5 times in a row. It may be a lot the first time around but people's impression of the game after the initial playthrough is going to be "A bunch of stuff I have to run through in order to get to something new". It's not that it immediately gets stale if you're at least going around different locations (library, class, retirement home, mansion, etc.) but in this case, you're stuck at the mansion for most of the game and it's only like 4 - 5 hours on endless loop.

On the flipside, Ep 8 felt kind of empty. I think it's mostly because a good amount of it had a lot of individual content for the branches. It's great if you're playing all 5 branches but each episode is just going to feel kind of short because those other renders are reserved for other branches. It becomes kind of barebones and feels like you're stuck on a track: Go to work, come home, sleep, go to work, come home, sleep, go to work, come home, drown yourself in alcoho- (sike, nah lol)

In hindsight, maybe Ep 8 and Ep 9 were DPC kind of experimenting how to juggle all of this. Seeing what works and what doesn't. At any rate, I think BADIK is a case where the render count doesn't impress me anymore and it's more of a given that there'd be that many to at least somewhat cover everything each episode. I don't think it quite works as a good indication for content post-Ep 8 and it's more about how he's chosen to allocate those renders.

Maybe in the long run and once it's all complete, it'll feel like a crap ton of content. Although, I'm not too sure about that either because no matter how much he stalls the stories, in-game time is still passing so the window is starting to close on opportunities he could take with the story/characters. But I think that's just me worrying and each branch will feel pretty full and complete at the end of it.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading all that. If not, I don't blame you.
DPC never said anything about using interpolation, he must think it would be worse than true 60fps (technically true)

Also, no worries, I love discussing this game and what you said about ep8 and 9 its true. Hopefully ep10 will be a mix of the 2 styles.

Interesting discussion. Beating Tybalt with a belt/rods is also an example of bad parenting. Because nothing good can come out of a child who grew up in a culture of violence. This will also be a spoiled personality, but in the other direction.
Because for him, violence will be the norm and he will grow up to be a typical bully who will beat other children to assert himself/achieve his goals.
Or even worse - if he grew up in an atmosphere of fear and constant violence from his parents, he could grow up to be a sociopath who can't interact normally with people and be devoid of a sense of empathy. The mistake of Tybalt's parents is that they did not give him moral guidelines and didn't explain what is good and what is bad. And this is the example of Stephen, who is a corrupt, spoiled with money and power man.
Look at Jill. Do you think her parents used violence against her to raise her? She absolutely lacks this spoiled superiority complex. She, of course, lived in a bubble and is awkward in relationships, she doesn’t really know how to contact men, she was too protected from the outside world, apparently. But she doesn't use her position to assert herself and rise above others, mentioning that she doesn't need this wealth.
Or Sage. Being from a spoiled family, she was able to remain herself, but then her brother was an example for her of “what not to do.”
I wouldnt go this deep, Sage and Jill have nice personalities because they are LI and that's why DPC writes them like he does.

By the way, thanks for updating your post ElectronicRoberts Like you said, the added images didn't reveal much, but at this point I welcome any distractions to make the wait for episode 10 easier lol.

How many of you here chose sage :love:as your main pt
She will be my second for sure, but my main run will always be Josy/Maya, since that was my choice in my first save.

Also, here is my final prediction about which girls are getting scenes this update and how many.

Josy/Maya - 3 (I predict a division at 2/1 for Josy and no threesome this time, otherwise it wouldnt be special if it happened every update)

Sage - 2 (She got 3 last time, so a bit less focus now, but she is a LI and one of the most popular ones)

Bella - 3 (Last time she got 2, but one of them was a very simple make out scene, also DPC loves her so I expect more this time)

Jill - 2 (Not much to say here, standart amount for a LI, also I doubt it would be just 1, since otherwise DPC spoiled her only scene in the update in the previews, something that never happens)

Now, those were easy, let's get to the other girls now!

Riona - 2 (Bold I know, but she didn't get anything last episode and pretty much everything points thar she will get the spotlight this update)

Nicole - 1 (Didn't expect her to get anything after gettign scenes on episodes 6,8 and 9, but her preview implies heavily it will happen)

Lily - 1 (Same as above, she has gotten scenes in the previous 3 updates, but I doubt she won't get a new scene this update)

Nora - 1 (While I still have my doubts, the mysterious ass is probably hers)

Quinn - 1 (One of the most popular girls from the others path, so I expect her to get something)

Madame - 1 (Please let me be wrong, but DPC did add her old scenes to the Season 3 files and I doubt he would abandon her "path" even with her low popularity)

Heather - 1 (My most risky bet, but something could happen this episode)

Haven't been in this thread for a long while. Any news on the next update?
Yes, release is on the 08/12.

Joshy should have it hahaha he is the big daddy for Maya and Josy
If anyone wants saves go to this post from SteveyP

It’s unlikely that he wrote characters so that everyone would like them. Sage may be so, it’s hard to find those who don’t like her, but many people don’t like Jill, especially here.
Or look at the opposite, Quinn. She doesn't have a nice personality, but she also has an army of fans.

Better than having a fanny of arms I suppose. Although that would make for an interesting Lovecraftian style render.

Sage is a perfect character that I also see as flawless. (I'm not even talking about her physique) But the outfit she wore at the Halloween party that was see-through and the fact that she said she wore this outfit to be seen and admired by men in a part of the party means that she is not that serious about MC yet. I hope over time she will take on the role of girlfriend material.

To be fair, Elena’s nipples were deliberately visible all night, and she is very much committed to John Boy. Having their partner desired by other people is their kink. Really this turns on a lot of people—knowing everybody badly wants your woman, but she only has eyes for you? Kinda hot.

But I agree Sage isn’t serious yet—for lots of other reasons. The MC is one of her best friends—if not her best because she confesses things to him she tells no one else. She seriously loves to fuck him. Now, will she put two and two together and realize she loves him? Not till she deals with her rage issues and daddy issues.

If you mentioned Lovecraft, I wouldn't mind seeing something dark in BaDIK. As DPC said, this game is not as dark as Acting Lessons, but in the second season and beyond, you can see how the tone of the story changed from funny comedy to drama and the first dark notes appeared. And even the death of a minor character. (Zoey grandma)
