Almost three years have passed, but people still cannot calm down because of the Interlude.
I agree, but that's also why we are allowed to skip it, so it's a somehow good tradeoff.the worst part about the interlude is that only one choice really matters, the rest is basically just introducing a new character and her friends who will likely not be involved in the story anymore.
You can skip taking care of the fish too. I always do, even if I have to mod my status or affinity (can't remember which it is) temporarily when Nick gives you the option. If you're DIK enough, you can say "no thanks" and never have to deal with the fish tank again (so far). So if applicable, I switch the levels, say no, then switch them back right afteron the episode itself, the fact that it can be skipped completely also says a lot about how much DPC believed in it, you still have to take care of the little fish in the aquarium, not Zoey 's story
I saw someone say the whole thing could've been condensed into just 5 renders or something like that, which I disagree with. But then I thought about some of the other short little stories concisely told, like the original Zoey story we shared with Bella in Episode 3. Or more recently, that flashback sequence for Stephen or the opening with Helen and Patrick.Almost three years have passed, but people still cannot calm down because of the Interlude.![]()
Well... By "polishing" I'm sure he means also playing the finished game to evaluate if the user experience is what he had in mind.Since Most of you here are Programmers or Know about Software development so you most likely understand what i am going to say below.
Forget about the time it takes to taste and polish (i.e. polishing, proofreading and beta-testing ), b/c he can do it while the animations are being rendered.
Therefore he can do "polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" while the animation is rendering.
"polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" - does NOT have to do with the remaining animations on the queue and them being added to the game, because the animations just playable WEBM files he can just add whenever they are ready and don't interfere with his "polishing, proofreading and beta-testing".
That means he does not have to wait until the animations are rendered to completion, unless he wants to intentionally prolong the release date.
so waiting the animations to be completed all before "polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" does not make sense.
so by the time all the animations are rendered to completion, all the "polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" should ne completed
ANIMATION speed
Two weeks ago, we had a whopping 68 animation files in the queue, and that's not even counting the planned animated cutscenes.
(let's not forget about the cherry on top - throwing in a little sex scene, Which is Small LEWD scene.) Probably up to 10 animations.
HARDWARE LIMITATION.
Unless DPC buys another Computers to speed up the rendering, it is huge obstacle for early release.
/\
Let's be real here: at a rendering rate of 10 animations per week, we're looking at a total of 6-7 more weeks of rendering hell (i.e. if some of the animations are shorter length, rendering could be little faster).
the queue is set to balloon to a lovely 70 in a doomsday scenario.
So, buckle up, folks. We're in for a wild ride of relentless rendering until January 10-20. Get ready to dive headfirst into the grind!
So In CONCLUSION : -
"polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" does NOT have to take additional two or three weeks after the animations are rendered.
Do "polishing, proofreading and beta-testing" while the animations are being rendered, then once they are done rendered, add them to the game, and release them within one week.
Otherwise he just need the additional time for something else.
but woo, no one have the balls to tell him that on his Patreon. even if they do He Bans them.
Anyone thinking otherwise is probably does not know about programming or software development.
so = is STUPID.
I think it's the mentality many have on this site or this industry community in general that whenever there is content of no interest to them it feels like the effort spent on that should be spent on stuff that would interest them. They feel like they are owed something in that place, like someone stole interesting content from them. For others it might simply be painful memory if they were present during its developement because of the long wait and no fruit kinda thing. Like I said earlier, only when game will be finished people will see Interlude as nice part of the game or people who discover the game just recently at least. Sure there are many things that could be cut or done in more efficient way in this game, but if the community really got the hands on power over this project it would be picked apart by vultures and only carcass would be left. Then the same people would later type that this game fell off and they need to find new project with such grand details and content. Just my thoughts, it varies case by case of course don't wanna generalize too much.Almost three years have passed, but people still cannot calm down because of the Interlude.![]()
I agree. That was his method in the past, wait for all animations to be present in the game before starting the testing. So we can assume he won't change approach.Just a few corrections, DPC doesn't start the beta until after all animations are done (yes that's stupid) and the last lewd scene might need more than ten animations, DPC mentioned 10-20 in a previous report.
Never forgive, never forget.Almost three years have passed, but people still cannot calm down because of the Interlude.![]()
Hey, I know one of our best friends has been abducted, and she might be dead, or getting tortured or molested right this moment, but get your sexiest underwear on, we're going to the DIKs for a panty party, woo!!Like someone already said earlier in the thread, there is no way all the characters would be making parties and chilling like the previews show so far if the Riona situation wasn't solved quite fast.
Specially considering there will be significant time skips this time around if we are going from Thanks Giving to Christmas, no way DPC can make all the people in the game not notice that Riona has been missing for days/weeks.
So she will probably be released right in the beggining of the episode after telling Vinny what he wants and to be a warning to Quinn.
I would have made Interlude larger, not 700 renders, but at least 1200, but spending more time on the backstory of Zoey/MC, making San Diego one of the arcs, but not major content. To create an emotional connection with the character more efficiently. Making a story in 5 renders is ridiculous.I saw someone say the whole thing could've been condensed into just 5 renders or something like that, which I disagree with. But then I thought about some of the other short little stories concisely told, like the original Zoey story we shared with Bella in Episode 3. Or more recently, that flashback sequence for Stephen or the opening with Helen and Patrick.
I liked the Interlude well enough, mostly just for Zoey herself, but now I'm wondering if the whole thing could indeed have been told in a short and sweet sequence: things are good with MC, grandma dies, train station, then it's sort of split the rest of the time where we see Zoey enjoy herself in San Diego while MC is alone and miserable, their text messages growing colder and less frequent. Zoey eventually misses home and MC too much, decides to come back, and MC has already tried to let go and move on. Bing bang boom.
It's obviously just a summary, but I can envision the whole thing in my head. The only thing is that with such brisk pacing, the Zoey lewd would have to also be shortened or just not included at all, which would suck because I like it a lot. There's also the consideration that DPC intentionally made her story this whole big thing regardless of what was necessary, very indicative of his dev time ballooning out of control for the next 3 episodes.
In general, this is the F95 mentality, people think that developers should make a game the way the user wants. At the same time, generalizing and speaking for others "nobody needs it", "no one asked for" - you probably often heard these words. Well, in general, "my opinion is the only correct one".I think it's the mentality many have on this site or this industry community in general that whenever there is content of no interest to them it feels like the effort spent on that should be spent on stuff that would interest them. Idk about making it longer. It's a tricky thing, because they never really knew what they were or how deep their feelings really ran. It might've been much worse to spend more time with MC and Zoey, just to show how great they are together but for Zoey to still be like "we're just friends with benefits" and MC to just go along with it because he was a pussy back then and didn't speak his mind. Or on the flip side, Zoey turns out to not be super likable, and then the player is stuck with her even longer and maybe even hoping MC dumps her ass ASAP (that sentiment is already present).I would have made Interlude larger, not 700 renders, but at least 1200, but spending more time on the backstory of Zoey/MC, making San Diego one of the arcs, but not major content. And even if she had her fun in San-Diego it would be okay, because that time she was a free girl without obligations.

Developer should make the game according to his vision, while paying attention to reasoned criticism.
Your last paragraph is absolutely based, the audience should not tell the developer how to make the game, I have seen such examples and this led to disaster. Ochlocracy is unacceptable.
In an AVN logic maybe that's right.Like someone already said earlier in the thread, there is no way all the characters would be making parties and chilling like the previews show so far if the Riona situation wasn't solved quite fast.
Yeah I think it would be a hell to code it in Ren'Py, but just because Ren'Py doesn't provide a facility to do it automatically. That would be cool, but I bet it would also be a bitch to code considering how much stuff can happen in BAK freeroams.
But I love if this was added, replaying EP 9 multiple time got old very quickly.
I don't think that's true
There was a similar situation last year. Many people predicted that the rendering would finish in December, but in the end it finished 2 weeks earlier.Just a few corrections, DPC doesn't start the beta until after all animations are done (yes that's stupid) and the last lewd scene might need more than ten animations, DPC mentioned 10-20 in a previous report.

Congratulations. You just made a lot of sense.
A lot of NONsense
Because all of that is going to go in one ear and out their ass, since that's where all their opinions come from anyway

DPC should've taken a gigantic left turn with the Interlude: Zoey becomes a vampire and fights werewolves, only to regain her humanity in the end and return back home. Or something equally stupidYou can't satisfy everyone,
no matter how hard you try, every girl will have a group that will dislike her. But I think that DPC could have done a better job with this story.
Bella is getting MC used to the pain

Is that BaDIK/Skyrim crossover?DPC should've taken a gigantic left turn with the Interlude: Zoey becomes a vampire and fights werewolves, only to regain her humanity in the end and return back home. Or something equally stupid![]()
