The key is that's presented as a "game" or better a multiple path novel (what is called a VN instead of a Kinetic Novel).

The implicit "contract" with the reader if you publish a multiple branch novel is that there should be at least one good ending.

It's a so widespread paradigm that everyone was expecting that.

And DPC deliberately violated it because "oh, look at me: I'm so original and great that I don't have to respect the expectations of the idiots whose pledges had made me rich!"

Even japanese AVN (there are some really dark titles, like School Days) have some happy endings, but in Acting Lessons, you have to sacrifice at least one of the MG (to get the third one, you have to let burn the other 2 girls), and this is just plain bullshit

There are so many Japanese vn's that don't have good endings. For example, I like the novellas from Nasu, the author of Tsukihime. They are pretty dark thrillers, but with colorful characters and intricate setting.
But the difference between Nasu and DrPinkCake is that the former is a talented screenwriter and author, DrPinkCake is still an amateur. The dialogs are average at best, the plot does not shine with originality, it's simple and straightforward. The characters are pretty basic, with no second bottom.
On the other hand DPС is very talented at combining all of this, he tells stories well, but everything about the narrative is on an amateur level.

I mean there's a similar thing where in Episode 6, MC talks about his mom dying during childbirth, how it affects his dad every year, and MC doesn't really like his birthday all that much because of it. He shares with whomever he chose, Jill or Sage. He's told the other girls about his mom's death, but never gotten any deeper than that. That has to happen eventually, but like I said it'd probably be relegated to off screen at this point.

But they are 2 very different topics. Lynette is still a live topic for MC regardless of choices, there is still the diary that will be useful sooner or later. It is normal for mc to talk about it with his current partner, any pretext will do, as it was for his birthday.

If Zoey does not do something egregious, for which it takes "justification" to get to know her, I see no reason for mc to tell this story of hers.

In the same way he only told about Maya and Josy to Jill, because there was a specific reason, and only possibly to Sage and Bella, and if he didn't then he doesn't do it afterwards

Someone will eventually respond to you by saying "They don't even look close to each other aside from the jacket!!!11" but when they do, note that in the intro his model was used briefly with him being younger in it, not even shown fully and that these two scenes are apart from each other by pretty much two entire seasons which means that it's entirely plausible that DPC might've altered the character's model for the preps' party. Also, he tells the other guy (who could be Rusty's father) that he rented a cottage up north after the 'Red haired guest' tells him that he's taking his family for a ski trip in the winter. Obviously, the ski lodge shown in the previews could be the same one and that's at least why the MC and the girls are there. Maybe MC's grandpa is the one to invite him there? Or maybe Rusty. But either way, it certainly looks like that's Tremolo's grandfather.

As much as I love the game, the story and the art, I have to say that this is really pathetic. Why are 13,000 patrons supporting him and waiting decades for a game to finish!!!!!!
This game is going slower than real life. People read novel to get some fast forward stories, to delve into romance, fantasy or drama but the way this is going, this shit might take another 5-6 years to finish. We don't need tons of sex scenes when the story is this engaging, just go on with the story and there are too many routes. Hire more people or cut some routes out or merge it. This game is just going too slow to enjoy properly.

How is Zoey not a live topic? She's back from San Diego, and chatting with MC again, and attending the same parties, and now MC told her she was his first love. And Zoey in general is very important to MC, even if they weren't "dating." MC says it himself, she was his first and only friend until the start of the game. His life sucked, and she helped make it brighter.

The way he shared the story with Bella heavily emphasized how alone he was, while with MJ he focused more on Zoey herself, and their relationship. He can share a shorter version that's akin to the first time, where it's more about himself.
