lol No.He worked 2 jobs to afford making AL and he started the Patreon page in the middle of AL development in hopes of getting some support.
He might've needed 2 jobs to support himself due to where he lived/lives, but that has zero positive impact on his ability to make any of his games. He could've been paying $10k a month trying to live in San Francisco, paying $500 a month for an aptmt in a mid-size OR city, or as little as $240 a month in a rural town in a more inland area. I also seriously doubt his production speed would have increased much based on what we see atm with him being able to fully focus on making BAD.
There's a lot to praise and just as much criticize. What some are praising as perfectionism could just as easily be teed off on for content bloat.
Personally, I think he'd be better off working on a second project on the side where he can dump these innovative changes. In 10 years, when new people come across BAD, they're going to be confronted by sudden jarring changes that have no explanation and it's going to quickly turn people away. They're not going to care that the game has taken the better part of a decade. They're going to see inconsistency plus unnecessary and unexplained difficulty spikes in unnecessary mini games. Things people are already complaining about, but are only going to be more of an issue once development has completed. And they aren't going to be wearing the rose-tinted glasses we all are today, knowing that until recently he was in a league of his own with everyone else trying to catch up or trying and failing to copy what he's doing.
