Maya is Abusive towards Josy - I definitely missed that comment.
I don't know about abusive, but she definitely left some rude voicemails and texts while Josy's phone was confiscated. She also was rude at first in the pre-throuple reveal in the dorm room. I found it very realistic in that way, and very touching when they worked it out, however briefly.

What the game shows is 2 people caught between the love they feel for each other and being in a difficult spot in their relationship because of outside forces that they can either overcome or succumb to. If they didn't love each other and knew it, then they'd split, easy as that. The fact they don't and what they say in the game shows that they do love each other and that's what makes it so difficult to know what to do because as much as they don't want to lose each other, they also don't want to be in this stressful situation where they can't relax and be open with each other because of Patrick.

If the breakup does happen, it won't be for lack of love, it will be because one or both simply can't deal with the difficulties anymore.

Not saying no break up happens, just saying that I believe you're wrong on your perception of their relationship and that it isn't backed up by what the game is actually showing us. It clearly shows the girls are conflicted when off path and you don't feel that way if there's no love anymore, you feel that because there is and it makes it difficult to know what to do; either stick with your love and hope things can get better, or jump ship, hurt yourself and them, and hope that there's a better prospect out there. That's where they're both at right now, and that's the truth.

They also both cheated with fuckface, so there's that. That's not just attributable to MDS. I have been in many relationships, most were not great, and the rest had bad patches as well, and I have NEVER cheated during a relationship.

I've decided what the most chad move in this game is.

Punch Oscar, make out with Tara and then have her fall asleep on your shoulder in your bed
Meh, that dude is insignificant. I don't think most chad move can be even associated with him. Sage, Jill or even Jade paths and asserting dominance on Tybalt are way more impressive and Funny.

The chad move in my mind is the end of hell week and the vote count.
There's MC showing the DIKs that he's
- banged Quinn.
- fucked Nicole.
- Fucked Jade.

But if measured by real life, probably to lead and motivate a group of partygoers and potheads to get together and fix the house on their own.

Oh boy, some guy on the BAD reddit posted today that he plays the game because all his real life relationships are "messed up" citing Quinn as an example of his real life problems (a bullying drug dealer who teases the guy?) and he uses stuff like the Jill path as a source of comfort.

Dude, if you're somehow reading this, get therapy.

BAD is a male power fantasy. It is not intended to reflect real life. Women in real life do not just randomly have sex the way they do here, and you should not expect women to act the way Jill/Josy/Sage/Maya/Bella or even Quinn do in real life.

If you actually try to act the way MC does in this game with your classmates or coworkers, you'll end up having a chat with a guidance counselor or HR rep, and be viewed as a creep by your fellow students or coworkers.

BAD is a fun game, one you can use for stimulation while masturbating, but it should not be viewed as any sort of alternative for genuine human interaction.

Let's start with the mandatory preface, I believe Maya is a nicely written character, and despite all my ramblings some months ago I don't care too much about her head (thou I still think it's big :KEK: ), she's good looking too.

That said, I personally don't like her, she's not mean or willingly abusive, but she is a selfish/self centered woman.
  1. She has absolutely zero issues messing with Tremolo when she thinks it could get her into the HOTs, regardless of how he has interacted with her up until that moment.
  2. She has a complicated background, but what makes her sad is not for example the situation her mother is in, rather the fact her father doesn't like her being lesbian/Bi.
  3. We are shown how deeply caring for her Derek is, both early on in a more jovial way, and at the end of the last chapter, in a more profound way, Maya on the other hand doesn't show a similar attitude towards him.
I mentioned it during one of my previous tirades, but another small example is how she interacts with Tremolo during the camping event, Tremolo is drunk:
Tremolo: "You shouldn't, you have a great body"
Maya: "Tremolo what are you doing?"
Tremolo: "I don't know. I'm drunk."
Maya: "Tomorrow is the big day"
And from there the conversation starts revolving around the 'heist"

This is the way she approaches everyone, including Josy, it's her before anyone else, becasue of her difficult situation, except that her difficult situation... is not that difficult (not saying is easy) or unique to humanity.

Nothing wrong in liking her, again she's nicely written, and some folks like to hang around this kind of woman.

Ignore this guy. Grab something cool, like fentanyl. Take a pill, drink a bottle of wine, collapse at the office, let the firm go under, lose your kids, fall into the darkness...

There's something about Sage's emotional and intimate scenes that really get me. It's probably their sincerity, because Sage is opening up to someone for the first time, as well as finding a real connection that isn't completely about sex. Then throw in the burgeoning love, and she's discovering all sorts of things about MC and herself.
ep8_sage39.png ep8_sage89.png
This is also another moment where sex isn't necessary, it's more about the experience surrounding trust, compassion and understanding. Unless of course, you DIDN'T tell her about Chad and Troy, then she does give you a blowjob later, which is the only solo lewd with her for Episode 8.

At the start of the game, Josy and Maya were all but broken up - they were split with only the slim prospect of Josy getting into B&R as a "reject" to offer them a chance of even being in the same room at some point, and even then they'd be under constant strain trying to keep Patrick (who has access to roam campus, and a key to Maya's dorm room) from discovering they were trying to keep a relationship going. Josy was on the verge of running away to try to start a new life somewhere else, and Maya was desperately hoping to find some way to get some degree of independence from Patrick.

For both of them, the relationship was all but over, and Tremolo offered something to both of them - for Josy, he's someone who would be willing to be openly dating her without all the secrets and lies that have been strangling her relationship with Maya; for Maya, he's someone she wouldn't have to hide from Patrick.

Then Josy gets in, and gets assigned to the "empty" bed in Maya's dorm room and everything turns upside down.

Josy and Maya then have very different experiences with and perspectives on the HOTs - Josy meets a welcoming group of potential sisters with one asshole; Maya meets a manipulative bitch who dangles the prospect of solving her problems in front of her, only to deny it was ever a possibility, and the people who happily spend time with her. And then it's made clear that Quinn way over-stepped with Josy and Maya's hazing, with no immediate consequences. So Maya's seeing a group of people represented by Quinn, while Josy sees Quinn as an exception to the sisterhood.

On top of that, Josy's not stupid - she can see that sharing a room with Maya means it's only a matter of time before Patrick catches them - so of course she's willing to put up with Quinn in order to be a member of the HOTs and move out of Maya's room. And of course Maya doesn't want anything to do with Quinn and the people who enable and support her.

To Maya's credit, once she actually interacts with individual non-Quinn HOTs, she realises she's misjudged them, and she does, ultimately, come around (and credit to Sage and the HOTs for fixing Quinn's fuck-up there rather than taking Maya's rejection as a sign she's not the right sort to join them).

With or without Tremolo in the mix, the Josy/Maya relationship is still under a lot of strain - Maya is (not unreasonably) unwilling to risk her entire future by coming out as a lesbian when there's any risk of Patrick finding out, while Josy wants a girlfriend whose hand she can hold when she wants to show affection. So long as Maya is afraid of Patrick being able to nuke her life, the relationship's never going to be easy. It's going to be up to Josy and Maya whether the relationship is worth the work needed to keep it going, though Tremolo can nudge the decision either way (and does in the non-throuple chapter 9).

There's an easy path to a breakup - either Maya's financial issues are finally resolved, but she's still not willing to go public with Josy, and Josy loses patience (with Tremolo there to help them reconcile, or to drive the wedge deeper) or Maya's financial issues remain, with no prospect of ever being resolved, and Josy loses patience.

There's also the prospect of Patrick being won over somehow - if his biggest issue with Maya being a lesbian is the lack of grandkids, the prospect of them (particularly if Maya gets pregnant somehow) is likely to soften his position. He's abusive and controlling, but at least part of that comes from his being under a lot of stress himself, and he's not necessarily totally unreasonable.

As for Josy's non-Maya drama, that seems to come down to her being a teenager and treating all the adults in her life like they're against her just because they don't give her total autonomy. It seems like they've got her back, even if they did confiscate her phone when they caught her having sex in her parents' bed...

I mean its not weird at all because the girls are endearing and since dating atm is absolute trash, look at those statistics. DPC does a good job at shining how good relationships can be when put together
