VN - Ren'Py - Being a DIK [v0.10.1] [DrPinkCake]

This is one the best VN out there with excellent graphics and storyline, can't wait to see the next chapters. I really love the music used in the game few songs are already my favorites. This and more such games have been an awesome mode of entertainment for me and I would definitely contribute when I am able to.

Reviewing Being a DIK is almost superfluous by now. It's a bona fide masterpiece in every respect as far as RenPy games go. Story, dialogue, models, animation, the lot - it's all top notch or beyond.

Once again I tip my hat to you DrPinkCake for all the plot twist, great scenes, the feeling of brotherhood and the story itself is just fucking amazing. I find myself 10 times more excited when i was notified there was a BaD update. I love this game!!

What can I say about this game? It is without a doubt the best game I have ever played here on this site. Every detail, so well done, I really congratulate the developer. It is a novel, a comedy, it has action, adventure, drama, everything! And the main thing, with a wonderful story that unites all these aspects. From my heart, I never wanted this game to end! It is evident the affection and dedication placed in this game. If I had enough resources, I would pay to never stop updating it, really. This version 0.7 is absurdly fantastic, the evolution is evident. There is only one part that displeased me a little. After making the MC make a difficult decision, and choosing a path, he forces him to carry out a mission in which he is obliged to get involved contrary to the decision he had taken, and there is no way to not accept, not the option to refuse, nothing , we just have to follow the scene. (I do not want to mention which scene, or what peronage not to give some undue spoler). But this in no way detracts from the work, the developer is a genius. It is, without a doubt, in my opinion, ahead of any game I have played here. Congratulations and be sure to update please. Everything will be fine and you will be able to complete this project. His work is fantastic Mr.PinkCake. I can only thank you.

I really like this game and would absolutely recommend it. The atmosphere, the way the story unfolds, the chemistry with and between the characters are all great.
Very distinctive routes with different girls based on your choices. and while you probably won't like all the girls I assume there is something in here for everyone. I especially appreciate the love some of the side characters get.

Great renders, amazing story and fantastic animations. What else do you want from a game? The only complaint about it is the same complaint I have with lots of VNs, the girls sometimes have cartoonishly large breasts.

This was the first game I found genuinely entertaining with a lot of replayability value. The gameplay is kept fresh in each episode as well as the storyline and graphics are amazing. It truly creates immersive-ness where you are invested in characters and their storylines.

Ya know it's really rare to come across a game like this. I think the greatest part is that all the characters are well built and just feel genuine. Weird to say this, the girls are great but I love Derek the most. He really gives me the dude feeling

Story (8/10) - The story of the MC attending college and struggling to adapt to life changes and fit in is one that has been told before but perhaps not as well as in this game. The plot is incomplete. The writing is flawed in places. There is an intentional attempt to walk a line between fiction and reality which makes for numerous non sequiturs. This is objectively the most well written game of its genre.

Originality (8/10) - The college story has been told ad nauseum. There is nothing original about the use of a college setting for adult visual novels. What sets this game apart is the construction of the other characters.

Renders (8/10) - Render quality is good for a game producing several thousand renders per release. It is not on par with the best render quality but the choice is between the number of renders and the quality of renders and the use of more renders to tell the story is not a flaw in this case.

Sound (10/10) - The music content is the best or among the best in a visual novel. The choice of music for particular scenes is outstanding. The mood set by the music eliminates the need or want for voice acting.

Playability (10/10) - The path options for each main or side love interest allow for multiple playthroughs with differing results. Choices matter.

Performance (10/10) - For a game of its size (approaching 15GB as of this review) the game performs exceptionally well. Autosave can be disabled if performance is an issue.

Bugs (10/10) - Very few bugs since initial release. Patches released promptly.

Animations (8/10) - Good animation quality. Animations are not the focus of the game. The choice of still render volume over animations is not a detriment to game quality.

Voice Acting (N/A) - Move on. Nothing to see here.

Grammar (10/10) - Seven releases later there have been very few grammatical errors and those have been fixed immediately. Among the best proofread adult games.

Content (10/10) - The game is nowhere near complete and yet the content is enough to keep any consumer of visual novels busy for weeks. The type of adult content is of the mainstream heterosexual / homosexual / bisexual variety. Those seeking more "colorful" types of content may find the game less interesting.

Overall: One of the best visual novels and adult games currently in production and likely to be one of the best adult games of all time when complete. Highly recommended.

It's so far the best game that you can to find here. It's funny, entertaining, with charismatic characters, a good MC, and a very good story about life in college. And many many girls (Maya I love you). Well, all people here know this game I just wanted to rate it with 5 stars which is that deserves.

Good graphics. Nothing else. The dialogue is boring and stupid. The characters are all mostly annoying. Especially the MC friend who is shirtless. Everything he says is cringe and he is always arounf you. You can't get rid of him. I played for 3 chapters and couldn't find neither one interesting conversation nor a captivating sex scene. I couldn't find any fetishes at all. All mostly vanilla, maybe this changes in the lastest updates, but I couldn't bare the huge number of unlikable and stupid characters and I errased the game. Congratulations anyways, because even though I didint't like it, most people do and the development team has a huge support. I think porn games deserve more support, so although I didin't like it all, I'm glad some people can create games and earn a lot of money by doing it.

this will certainly sound repetitive, but this work has been one of the best experiences on this site! Human characters, with flaws, errors, numerous psychological facets and with trauma and profound developments! it just shows how careful and meticulous the developer of Being a DIK is!

Just played Ep 7 and this will be my placeholder, because I have no time to write big review. But in short. After Ep6 I was little disappointed, but this Episode, oh boy, it was just perfect ... I got almost everything I wanted, never bored and played it all weekend long (I even take day off from work to play this) ... this game is really hyped like AAA movies or AAA video games, which are however mostly shits and trash (yea, talking about you Activision for example) ... but here, the hype is totally deserved ... I played about 100 VN games from this site, but this one ... this one is far the best ... with a big big gap to second place ... and now, let's start the waiting game ... god I want september/october ... now!

The best VN I have ever played! Storyline is good and lots of different ways you can go about it. Definitely worth your time if you're looking for a college story. Put the story aside and you have stunning visuals which is what you need in a good VN. All the character designs are amazing and the scenes..... oh boy!

This game deserves the praise heaped on it in these forums -- but it's worth calling out three things that it does uniquely well.

1. The characters are all well-rounded, three-dimensional human beings. There are no cliched types, simple heroes/villains, or princess/slut tropes. They are all believably human: flawed, but capable of great acts of kindness or empathy. The dev does a brilliant job slowly revealing their personalities over time, like peeling back an onion. Characters that seem simply 'evil' at the beginning can turn out to have altruistic motivations -- and seemingly kind people can do very self-centered things. They are so true to life -- including the MC! Which brings us to...
2. The fantastic morality system. At first I thought that the dev's Dik-Chick morality scale was a simple lightside/darkside, good/evil spectrum. It isn't: some Dik actions are indeed dickish (ogling various females) but they also include bravery and audacity. Chick actions mostly involve turning the other cheek... but sometimes they are more negative, including avoiding problems. These subtlties mean that it works exceptionally well with the shades-of-gray characters.
3. A free-roam system and mini-games that aren't annoying! I generally hate both of these devices, which often serve as 'filler' in porn games. But the dev has put real effort into making them interesting and connecting them to the story... so don't be put off by those tags.

One note of warning: the dev's excellent earlier title, _Acting Lessons_, rather brutally (and melodramatically) punished bad behavior by the MC in its final act. I suspect that we could be headed for something similar in BAD. That is generally a great thing: it invests choices and moral decisions with meaning... you can't just cheat and sleep around without consequences.

But beware: it means that you may _think_ you've succeeded in cheating without getting caught, or done the dirty without consequences... only to be punished for it an episode or two later. Consequences like this are never random or capricious in this game, though: you always know why you've gotten in trouble.

The bottom line is that this is a brilliant game with a first-class dev. Among the best on this site... perhaps even _the_ best.

This Dev is the golden standard to which I compare all others. Thus, I have been a supporter of his on Patreon. I loved his previous game, Acting Lessons, and I love BADIK even more. It is one of the few VN's that has a ton of originality, avoiding the cookie-cutter tropes that hundreds of other games suffer from. BADIK is full of interesting stories and genuinely humorous comedy. The icing on top is the QUALITY renders and animations. This game absolutely deserves the #1 spot.

Story 10/10 - Very well written, interesting, and genuinely funny moments

Graphics 10/10 - Gorgeous renders and silky smooth animations... plus Maya, Bella, and Jill... nuff said...

Gameplay 9/10 - Typical VN branching choices here... point deducted because while most of the mini-games are fun, there are a couple that are annoying. You can disable them though.

As for the adult content, there's plenty of them for each route. Very good balance between story and lewd scenes. Never too much text and never just a pure fap fest. Did I mention that I LOVE this game?

This is the best game that u can find here. Trust me. Overrated milfy city and summertime saga are few leagues below.
