You guys are right. I never actually noticed Melanie being there. That doesn't discount the chance that Chad is messing with multiple people. I can't think of any other reason for Melanie to react the way she did. A friend she set him up with, maybe? I guess, in the end, all we can do is play and find out.

If he was in a coma, wouldn't she be visiting him in the hospital regularly?
What if he just left her for another woman, and she can't get over it? She refuses to move on because she wants him back, that is... until she meets the MC and his magical python.
She still wears her ring, keeps telling people she's a married woman, and keeps a locked room in her house... one that is probably full of her husband's belongings that he left behind. If you remember, Jill is familiar with her house, but was surprised that the door to that room was locked when the MC asked about it. So, I doubt that there's anything in there that is overly creepy. When we were first leaning about Bella, it was was fairly clear that she didn't trust men. She put the MC through the 3rd degree before finally approving of him. When she did "allow" Jill to date him, she got very irritable & angry with people. Maybe that was because she, herself, was developing feelings for him... but didn't know how to accept that.
In this latest update, after spending the night with the MC, she thinks to herself... "she's become what she hates, an adulteress." Why does she hate them? ...because one stole he husband away. However, she also tried to tell herself that her relationship with the MC is just "carnal urges", refusing to believe that she's falling for him... and the python. She's lying to herself.
I think her story is finding a way to come to accept what happened, and then moving on. However, I would assume that at some point... while she's well into her journey... her ex does come back. She will then be torn between letting him back into her life... or telling him to fuck off.

She might be doing just that and we wouldn't know. Depending on how long he's been there she would likely no longer visit every single day and maybe once or twice a week instead. So she wouldn't have to visit during the exact days we spend in her home.
The version of events where her husband cheated on her and ran off is also possible and would still fit comments like "maybe he'll come back" she makes. But I guess I'm having a hard time imagining Bella as someone that would get cheated on and then blame herself and wish for the cheater to come back to her. That seems a little too insecure for someone as "straight to the point" and deadpan as she is. Hell she barely gives most people a first chance, so her giving someone that broke her trust and hurt her in such a way a second chance and constantly blaming herself and not him would be a bit odd.
Weirdly enough, the charecter that I care most about is Maya, and in a completely platonic way.

I don't think she's forcing it. I do think she's recruiting girls into the HOTs who would chose to get involved. That's why she never had any intention for Maya or Josy to join, she was just toying with them for kicks. She likes that Josy's presence upsets Tommy, and she likes that she can play mind games with the mc regarding Maya.

I really hope not. AL was my favourite LN up until the fire and the twist. Not because it wasn't the ending that I wanted but because it was unsatisfying. It's been a while since I played but the promise didn't match the payoff. I think DPC did it that way to subvert the typical porn LN but I wouldn't like it a second time.
If Bella has her husband's corpse frozen in the locked room or some other crazy twist I'll just be annoyed. The kiss quote
"But if I had known the real reasons to her tears... and to her persona... I wouldn't have kissed her that night. I would have called out for help."
Implies something pretty bad is going on under the surface. It's vague and could mean anything. All we know is something is bothering her and her super bitchy attitude has a route cause. But it, in and of itself, isn't enough to give any hint she might be psychotic. And there are no other real clues yet.
So if it went that way I would be really upset. A twist for the sake of a twist is bad. This is me extolling all my writing experience and classes here, but if a twist blindsides you and doesn't add up it can ruin a whole story.

Lots of people think it but it doesn't make sense. The most obvious issue with that theory is that mc's mom died when he was born. Jill is 2 or 3 years older than mc. That means Jill was 3 when her sister died. She's way older than 3 in the photo on her sister's shoulders, and all her memories with her sister imply she was much older than three when she died.
Wondering if Jill is older than she appears as that could solve some of the issues?

The other obvious one is that Jill makes a big deal about the tree at the picnic, about how it was her and her sister's favorite spot where they would write and such. In the flashbacks to the mc's mom, she's writing under a tree, it is so not the same tree. She's allowed to write under any tree she likes, but it's just another counter argument (if the tree was the same, then that'd be a serious game changer in this argument).
