Why Maya is being hated is terrain for speculation. First couse there are different people who hate her, second, couse as someone told me "Dont believe everything people said on the internet". You dont agree, ok then, we disagree. To the purpose of the original point is irrelevant.
Noone has the obligation to clarify people who almoast dont know what their sexual orientation is. Therefore i am sorry but i dont see reasons to reproach her that she said "boyfriend" or "girlfriend". Is a private matter and everyone should respect that privacy in Saudi Arabia or watever place you choose. There is nothing to forgive.

I never said that you should forgive her couse she is a lesbian. I said when the crime is not a legit one the lie it is. If you are a lesbian and dont want to tell people that couse the backlash you are going to suffer for being a lesbian, then it is legit to lie. I cannot make myself more clear about this.

when MC says that it is too late and that he is now interested in her, Maya, if she were a correct person, should simply tell him that she is not interested, she should not tell him that she is a lesbian, nor of Josy, she should simply tell him that she does not reciprocate, instead she gloats and keeps silent
she is lying because having a mc who pampers her makes her happy, and she decides to let him do it. she is behaving incorrectly, there is nothing to elaborate. it is not about privacy, it is about respecting the feelings of others
