It was a productive and focused week; I've been working on lewd scenes for the better part of it.

We're up to 3157 produced static renders and I have posed a total of 280 animations. Of which, 247 animations have been fully rendered, and 33 are waiting to render.

Next week, I will continue working on the remaining 2 lewd scenes for the episode, including static renders and animations.

My current estimation is that I have 40-60 animations left to pose for the remaining lewd scenes.

My plan at the moment is to finish the manual work on all animations, building up the final animation queue, and then proceed to work on everything else.

Some other details I can share about the current state of the episode are:

  • At the moment, there is 3.6 GB of new content.
  • 26 new licensed songs and 3 CC0 licensed songs have been added.
  • 24 new sound effects have been added.
  • Code-wise, counting free-roam events, the episode is closing in but is still smaller than episode 7.
  • Story-wise, based on the main files, the episode is now bigger than episode 7.

This week there is a lot of quantifiable data. I leave the analysis to the experts, but it gives a lot of hope that the development is coming very fast.

A thought just occurred to me. What if the free tuition is not about prostitution, but about shooting college porn. Maybe Mona was just supposed to shoot a gangbang with the old professors in EP5.:unsure:

When Camila and Mona helped the MC with the slap, Mona said that it doesn't matter, that the cock from the MC would make any porn star jealous. Sage had a camera at the penultimate special render. :unsure:

There may also be a proof video, which could exonerate the MC in EP5. You all 100% noticed the pen on Maya's desk. It's pointing right at MC and Josy's bed. Oddly enough, in EP6 Josy and Maya are fucking on Maya's bed. The same is true in EP7. Maya and the MC are fucking on Maya's bed. :unsure:

Do I understand correctly, the game will have shorter and fewer freeroams, but more story scenes?

As of now the files for said free roams are smaller, but he is not done with the coding aspect of it so that could potentially change since he's "closing in". The story as of now is larger than episode 7.

He still has work to do on both fronts, but as of now, that's where the game is

About 25 days left; 4 weeks; regarding the Recent Average release time. Compared to EP7, renders count are at 84% close, when animations count is at +12%, DPC plan a +32% total (+80) with about 330 animations. Looking at the update size it's the biggest yet by +200MB as now with +18GB total. I also added a premium licensed Music tab, and EP8 have actually 7 more musics than previous and biggest addition yet with 26, about 5174$.

Truly, today is a good day!

DPC has turned on the jets since our last significant quantitative update, finishing ~1157 static renders and ~47 animations in 4 weeks. That's an average of 289 statics and 11.8 animations per week over that period; it's roughly on par with his overall average for animations during Episode 8 (about 12.4/week), but far higher for statics than had been typical (about 158/week). We also learned that DPC expects to end up with between 320-340 total animations (assuming there aren't a significant number of non-lewd animations still to do), slightly up from his previous estimate. All told, it looks something like this:

As you can see, with the jump in static render rate and the increase in the total animation count, animations now appear to be the gating factor for Episode 8 (at least as far as art goes). The bad news is that the animation projections remain consistent with our previous negative estimates - a mid/late November release. The good news is that the static projections are much rosier (mid October!), and since animations can be queued they are somewhat easy to do in parallel with finishing up the remaining non-art tasks for Episode 8. So we're no worse off than before, and could be meaningfully better off if DPC can pick up the animation render rate now that statics appear to be winding down.

DPC's highest known animation render rate was about 20/week during Episode 7 (he's maxed out at about 16/week early in Episode 8 development). If DPC can achieve 20/week starting now, he could finish rendering the animations in early October, roughly inline with the mid/late October release that the static projection gives us. Obviously this would require DPC hitting a near max animation rendering speed while also finishing up the remaining non-art tasks (and the old static estimate holding steady), but it is plausible. It really depends on how much writing/programming is left and on how complicated the remaining animations are.

It's probably best not to get too optimistic, and my gut sill favors an early November release. But we can at least say a Halloween release is a valid possibility again. :)

Love some numbers;

Statics have taken a nice up turn and are on track with Episode 6, though somewhat behind 7. At current speed it will be around the October 1st update when the total surpasses 7.

Animations now only need 3 more completed to match 7, but are several weeks behind, however week 20 was the same week he reached peak for 7 with 250. Preusming around 83 more (33 in the queue and 40-60 to pose) we can presume animations completed around October 29th (He's averaging around 12-15 per week with the most recent batch being on the low end of that)

Previous releases were week 24, 23 and 20. October 29th would be week 27, however if we presume 3 weeks beta testing and other work on top of that we can imagine a week 30 November 19th release.

Minor point, but DPC has not completed all 280 animations yet; 33 of them are still the queue. That means the manual part of them is done so DPC is free to pose (or write) other stuff, but since the rendering rate for animations is more or less fixed that's about 2-3 weeks of time that must be spent.

Would it be a crime to have the dev and the gallery/walkthrough/cheat modders get together for this game and just put the mods in the game at release? This is something that perplexes me about renpy games and modders. Just get in touch with the devs and put that stuff in the game in the first place. The fact that we have to wait for mods it just ridiculous. Sometimes weeks. Release a version with the mods, and without AT RELEASE. Problem solved.

I highly doubt Dictator DPC would allow it. He does everything in his power to make sure Scrappy can't mod it.

I don't agree with DPC going out of his way and waste time to try and stop modders, but actually sharing his work with them before release it's just asking for trouble with leaks and such.
He should just concentrate on the game itself, the modders will always work their way around the code in a couple of days max anyways.
