I don't really understand the distinction... in the end the difference is only the age of the protagonist, because moments in which we are forced to moments of mental confusion, completely independent from our direct and indirect choices are not lacking even in BADIK (a boy who has always been bullied and thinks about dropping out of school because his roommate doesn't give him a cuddle, then he runs away in the middle of the night when faced with sentimental difficulties, suddenly he realizes that it's not okay for him to be fuckbuddy... etc etc)
you're right, definitely, it's alienating the whole post-fire AL part if you didn't care about the one left to burn, but I don't think the fourth chapter of BADIK for those not interested in Maya and Josy was all that much better an experience, all that much more engaging...
the big move, the big change in DPC is simply having rejuvenated the MC so that any excess is justified anyway?
this is what we all hope, but on Quinn, Riona (but also Bella and in part the trouple) the omens are not very happy, that cocaine will end up somewhere
and DPC with these fan expectations plays a lot with it, I don't think the axe in Bella's garage is random....
I'm gonna bury the hatchet with the MC's wimpy moments; whether he's a DIK or a Chick, he's really a sensitive guy. Even as a DIK, rough around the edges and all that, he's still introspective and cares about others and probably just thinks too much.
Also, the guy had one sexual relationship in life before going to college, and he didn't even have strong feelings for the Zoey, she was just some chick he was kicking around with.
Then he goes to college where girls are throwing themselves at him, he's having the time of his life, but then he starts getting feelings for these two girls and shit turns upside down and he's hurt.
Feelings can be cunts some times. Could he have handled it differently? Absofuckinglutely! But he fucked up and maybe learned some shit.
Then he's enjoying fucking this hot, fun babe, Sage, behind her boyfriend's back. Suddenly the situation changes and she's now available at the same time as he's starting to seriously like her!
What if he's timed this shit wrong and she just using him to get over her heartbreak and then shit gets awkward? He panics and turns her down, and pretty much every last motherfucking one of us wanted to punch him in the face. Should he have handled it differently? Of course the dumb cunt could have. But he didn't.
We all fuck up some times, the mc's entitled to handle shit poorly from time-to-time.
But the most unforgivable moment was when he left Nicole and Sandy at the bar after looking at Jill's photo.
Hmm:
- He fucking melts down 'cause he feels hurt when Maya and Josy (two girl's he's pretty much fucking) turn out to be a couple...
- He cockblocks himself with Sage when she's finally available and throwing herself at him...
- He turns down a threesome with Nicole and Sandy (which is arguable the hottest threesome in the game) after looking at a rat faced shot of Jill...
You know what? I'm starting to see a pattern. The mc is actually a fucking idiot!
Now regarding the pending doom looming over the game, I could live with an overdose and recovery situation, like the Mia Wallace scene in Pulp Fiction, where everyone is shitting themselves but some dude has an adrenaline shot in his back pocket to save the day.
I'd hate it if a non-LI character becomes collateral damage though, because so many of the non-LI's are really great characters: Arieth, Ashley, Camila, Cathy, Elena, Heather, Jade, Lily, Mel, Mona, Nicole, Quinn, Riona, Sally, Sarah...
It's bad enough that Mona and Cathy have left, but at least they didn't die!
What if Tybalt picked "dinner at fancy restaurant" for third and final date and that preview is Bella and Ass Man trying to ruin Tybalt's plan. Later that night the blackmail arc is concluded (my guess is similar with popular opinion here, which is counter blackmail) and after that MC must choose whether to take Bella home for some pussy rust removal or to bring Jill to the DIK mansion for some good ol fashioned deflowering and that choice will forever close one of their route, in true spirit of the episode's title: Crossroads.
Surely DPC can't be that cruel right?
I reckon you've nailed it as to the reason why they are there. Sure Bella wants to date the mc, but they are probably there to sabotage Jill's final date and Bella is pissed.
