Getting tested is never intrusive - it's just good manners, and a smart personal health decision. You want to catch anything before it does any damage, and they can all do some damage. Even if you catch one of the non-curable ones, there are treatments which really do work at improving quality and length of life, protecting any potential partners, and minimizing symptoms.
And so hey, you got caught up in the moment, or she was too timid to bring it up (really, their first time was every kind of botched, from a consent and communication point-of-view), but getting tested is still a good idea, so you at least know, can take care of anything which needs to be treated, and be responsible going forward. But if you trust your partner is faithful (and even if Tremolo isn't, she is naive enough to trust him), you get tested up front, and then you should get tested again after a couple weeks, after one month, and again after three months or so. That covers the incubation times of pretty much everything. Assuming everyone is following the monogamous rule-set (dull), you are good to go.
If you are man-whoring around (or woman-whoring around, for that mater), you should be getting tested every 2-4 weeks, depending on your ability to pull. In most of my routes, Tremolo should be getting tested every other day!!!!! (two weeks, actually....incubation times....but you know, dude gets around.) Definitely get yourself on PReP.
Even in a monogamous relationship, it is a good idea to be taking PReP. Hell, even if you are using condoms with everyone, you should take PReP if you can find a way to afford it. Using PReP with condoms is 100 times safer than condoms alone. No shit. (It's really a no brainer. The dosage is low enough to have almost no side effects, and the effectiveness is amazing.) The revolution that is PReP really doesn't seem to be widely enough known, outside of the more "at risk" communities (a nonsense way of putting it - between regular testing, HPV and Hep-B vacines, and PReP, I'd trust most high end sex workers, gay or trans hook-ups, or polyamorous affairs, even raw dogging it, far more than I would ever trust a straight one night stand at a bar or off of Tinder. Vanilla folks are wild with the risks they take!!!) Personally, I'd be putting PReP in the water, except it would be a problem for people who already have HIV.
