Look, it's a fact that not every computer can run every game. If you are working on a cheap processor, an integrated video card that borrows RAM from the system, and minimal RAM to begin with, there are some games that are going to be beyond your system's capabilities. I'm guessing that not everyone's problems are caused by low specs, but at least a number of them are.
The age of the computer is independent from it's specs. A four year old high-end system might run this with no trouble. A brand new system with minimum specs may not be able to start it. There is very little the creator can do about that. Maybe he can figure something out, I don't know, but it's also possible that you just won't be able to play the game on your system.
For some of the others... if you have a decent system and are still having trouble starting the game, perhaps there is a dependency you are missing, or something that is corrupt. I know a Steam likes to install a C++ Redistributable every time I install a new game. Maybe the people who are running it without problems happen to have the right file installed from having installed some other game. I have 12 different C++ Redistributables installed on my system right now, and it is less than a year old.
Other than that, I'm running out of suggestions.
