Thanks for the reply. Was asking about the eve/doctor to the forum in general to learn who the daz base model was so I could play around with it. The morph looks great. Not to the doctor part yet so haven't met eve. Have worked with daz but not with the morphs so wasn't familiar with the program.

Not familiar with the morph program so your screenshots were a great help. Thanks so much!

Daz question-When I apply the gens to say genesis 3 female the skin is grey. Applying the mat with the character doesn't correct the grey skin. How would I go about correcting the grey skin?

We don't know the base model for the doctor/Eve, that's why I made the morph.

Use "New gens for Victoria 8" on her. They work correctly. I haven't checked other ones.

I've finished with syncing my mega folder and the spreadsheet. Hope that everything is in place! If you want to add, correct anything just let me know or comment on the spreadsheet!

Mega folder:

Next up is to organize the custom assets. I'll be away for a week and a half so probably it will be postponed a bit.

The reason this happens is because the gens are "geografts" that essentially replace a portion of the original G3F anatomy. Geografts are kind of "generic" things in Daz - they can be joined to a figure essentially anywhere. (Tails, extra arms, horns, etc.) Thus, when you first apply it to a figure, Daz has no idea what material to apply, and leaves it grey. So what you need to do is to then apply the correct material to them.

Not every character skin has materials for the gens. Teen figures do not, for example. However, for those that do, there are two potential ways to fix this, depending on how the PA who created the character handled things:

1) Sometimes if you add the gens to the character and then re-apply the character's skin, the main skin material handles the gens. In other words, if the skin is applied to the main figure after the gens, the gens material gets set up correctly.
2) Sometimes the PA has a separate material for the gens, in which case there's typically a "Apply Gens" item that comes with the character.

You have to look at the material options that come with the character to figure out which of the two approaches may work. (Remember that for the figures here, the skin isn't always from the same figure as the mesh.)

All the above is for the gens that Daz produced. As @celtic1138 correctly points out, the "New Gens for V8" from Renderotica gets around this particular issue. They're an entirely separate geograft, and basically "steals" material areas from the main part of G3F for its materials, so it works even on figures for which no gens materials were ever prepared. (Downside is that if your figure's skin has a tattoo in the wrong spot you can end up with portions of it repeated in interesting locations. LOL)

Wasn't sure if the model was known so thought it best to ask. I've used the v7 add on and it also corrects the issue. Was just trying to learn if there was a way to correct the greyed out portion without an add on.

Thanks for the reply. I'd heard you could copy another area to address the grey portion but wasn't able to figure out how to do it. I have been able to apply a skin set for a g3 character with the gen material to other g3's to address the many that do not come with gen material. I've used the v7 version and it also works very well. When I also got the v8 version I had trouble getting v7 to work again so just kept v7. Not a big fan of how the g8 models look. The g8 features have some nice improvements. G3 tends to work with most things g8 so will happily keep using my g3 models.

I think there might be a map missing, I only made what was necessary... and as the 8 gens worked I didn't go any further down that road. Most people are going to apply a more pose-able gen than the standard ones.

Just to be clear (because I wasn't, completely) although "New Gens for V8" has "V8" in the title, they apply perfectly to the G3F figures (i.e. Victoria 7). 3feetwolf (the author) also has a "New Gens for V7" which were originally designed for G3F, but the NGV8 have some significant improvements, and work on both G3F and G8F. So even though the models for the various BB characters are based on G3F, a lot of the fan art has been using NGV8 for the gens. (Some use NGV7, some use the Daz gens, some use Golden Palace - all a case of personal preference.)

A different kind of asset, but has anyone identified the porn clip that Max and Ann watch every other night?

Are their Materials for Kate released yet? I could finally get my hands on a discount for her hair, and I would love to use her in my renders.

Any way make V4 morphs to V7?
I've read that there's a way to do it with the autofit clones, but that the results aren't great, since they are entirely different figures that use significantly different weight mapping approaches.

So here is the re-worked Kira skin... In fact there are two versions. Version one "Kira" is the closest I could get to the most recent version of Kira. The second version "Kira 2" is an amalgamation version where I tried to get a decent middle ground between the many different Kira looks. It has darker make-up and while the skin tone still has a yellow hue it is a little darker. Personally I prefer it. But... take your pick both will install when you add the content folder.

A side by side by side comparison. On the left is the previous Kira texture from a few months ago. On the right is the new Version 1 Kira, and in front is the new Version 2 Kira.
3 kiras.png

Version 1 seems to retain the color of the older skin but has a reflective quality to it that I think makes it tricky to light well. Default EV for this HDRI dome is 13, which is too bright. I often bump it to 13.5 but the highlights of Version 1 Kira still looked like she was glowing so I set EV to 14.

I like Version 2. Looks more "neutral".
