3D-Daz Big Brother: Art Assets

Hey guys!

Awesome thread & your work is amazing!

In particular, FunFiction, celtic1138, bubbas and many others!

I finally took a deep breath and installed Daz3D.

Thanks to bubbas’ wonderful repository it doesn’t look hard at all!

So far at least=)

For now, I stuck with the certain problem though.

That’s my first render and what’s missing are box sconces.

For the last many hours I was reading this whole thread, made many searches on the web but I can’t figure out yet, what am I doing wrong?

Since literally no one mentioned this as a problem I assume it’s my lack of knowledge and not a lack of assets.

There must be a switch to make them appear on the walls, right?

Test Alice G8.1.png

Me All day trying to convert Alice to G8.1... (On the left AliceG3... on the right another person despite my best intentions) I managed to do it... maybe someone has a character preset for Alice (G8 or G8.1)... I think I threw myself into deep water...

A simple Alice conversion from G3 to G8 shouldn't require any weird assets (I think). Original Alice textures needed (from BB repository).

I look at your renders guys and I'm more and more impressed... Daz is not easy, but when I succeed at something, it gives me good satisfaction... until it turns out that something doesn't work, because I made one step incorrectly.... :oops:

Edit: Small fix, not all bone positions were reset...now they are and shouldn't be a problem with poses.

Sorry if the question is off topic, but is there any thread or topic to request daz asset identification from a pic? I have a pic of a female asset that I want to know the asset name / daz link of. Google wasn't much help, I have been trying for a few days...

Hi fellow BB lovers,

In a very recent system crash, I have lost all my DAZ assets. I am rebuilding my BB assets from the mega folder but I have lost the V8 characters that other artists had shared (like stupid, I did not back them up). Can those who have it, share the G8 versions of the BB Characters? I will also search the various threads for them but sharing might help me find quicker.
I will be much grateful and will help me get back to rendering faster. The cost of the repair and replacement part is already requiring me to take on extra shifts and my time is very limited now.

Looking specifically for Max,Eric, Alice, Lisa first!

My request to fellow BB fans and artists for their assistance!

I created it... I don't remember how.


edit: In my previous post I gave a link to instructions on how to make such morphs... I forgot about it.

Is the op up to date about the assets ? there is still stuff missing while i can see here and there fan art that's pretty on point. Anyone mind sharing a complete up to date list ?
I've finally starting playing around with daz and i'd like to try a few things to post in fanart

I'm using the converted Olivia G8 morph that is on this site (Shows in parameters as BBOlivia) has anyone else had issues with her eyes when loading or building poses? Or does anyone have a G8 version of Olivia without eye issues

that is a Daz bug not a problem with the model, possible fixes are:
1) pose the scene closer to the origin point of the map, if you move characters even further away, you'll notice the black spots get even larger,
2) under Render Settings tab, Editor sub-tab, there is "Optimization" folder, and there is "Instancing Optimization" option there, by default it is set to "auto", try changing it to either Memory or Speed, sometimes one fixes the issue, sometimes the other

and my suggestion is to start learning other 3d software, because Daz has been stagnating for years already, and it doesn't seem they are interested in making it better, they just make more addons and tidbits to sell to you

About Eve...

Looks like her skin material is from this package.
You should check this though, but this assumption looks pretty plausible. You can compare picture from DAZ website with BB images and with my renders (pink arrows).

I used eyes 07, lips 06, MU 03 and eyeliner overlay for these renders.

I'm a littlle confused with the eyeliner, because it doesn't look like the original for sure (blue arrows). I made 2 renders: with default Eyelids Upper Down-Up value and with 27.4.

I used defalut Translucency Weight values, but the whole thing looks like these values should be increased for skin surfaces. It seems to me that original DAZ image and my renders look a little pale compare to the BB pictures. Although, the lighting may be the reason of this difference.

What about morphs, I used the one published in this thread. This is the best we have for now.

I noticed, that almost all BB female characters use morphs from FWSA characters, so I went to the DAZ website, chose all FWSA characters with more-less similar shapes (you can use breasts size as a pointer, I guess, so all big boobed characters will be out of range), downloaded them and... Let's say there were absolutely NO match. But i doubt, that it was decent testing.
Looks like the only way we can find the right morphs for Eve is brute force. Yeah, there will be many (too many) characters to try, but if we know right skin material, the whole process will be much easier. So I hope that P3D Patricia is correct skin.

Just following up on my post in the main BB fan art thread where I was puzzling over the assets for Alex (and realized it was a discussion better had here). I saw a piece of fan art there where the artist ( ip19216811) said he couldn't get a skin for Alex. So I looked in the BB.xls from this thread that had Alex listed as FW Tobias HD for morph+skin with Short Cropped Hair for the hair.
I looked at Tobias in the store and wasn't convinced so I went back into the original image files from the core game and found

which made me look at the Max character and I came up with

where the skin didn't look quite right. So my next test was to try with the Makani Skin which gave me

which still didn't feel right. So I dove back into the source images and looked for the introduction shots and found

. This led me to try a test with the Tobias model + skin and Max model + Tobias skin. where I got

. So I think it's most likely that the Alex character is Max with the Tobias skin, blue eyes and Short Cropped Hair.
In my opinion default G3M head looks more lookalike the original. But there are some diffirences (especially in the chin area), so that's not correct, I guess (at least not 100% correct).

What about body morph, Tobias looks pretty decent. Max is not enough GYM person (as we remember, Lisa fell for Alex because of his muscles).

What about materials, it seems to me, that Tobias skin is too red and not enough yellow. Of course, lighting can affect the image very much, but still.

I think there were more morphs used for Alex's muscles and possibly the face to make it "less Max". The skin tone is pretty inconsistent between the original renders in BB so I think there's a lot of impact from the lighting. I was mostly trying to match the head the best that I could.

This time I decided not to use Shape Splitter and make all packages with the original morphs.
I can't guarantee, that I did all things right. Some characters are... let's say debatable. But maybe my versions will help someone.

I didn't make Aex, because I couldn't find right assets for him (I think that notes about Alex in this thread are not correct). Also I didn't make third plan characters.

What about Eve - we still don't know which morphs DS used for her model, so the morph, published in this thread, is the best we have for now. Also I can't be 100% sure about materials.

All wearable stuff must be installed separately.
