You know that Erick was created in the first game because the dev ran out of ideas for how to continue him, and that was the main reason for abandoning it, right?
Also, just because a game is based on another doesn't mean it has to be a carbon copy. It's possible to make a game where, for a change, the MC has personality and, in addition, there's a story that makes "Erick" unnecessary, or at least has a role beyond being the pathetic, personality-less NPC who's just annoying.
If you like Erick so much, go play one of the remakes that are carbon copies of the original and stop bothering people, because what would really be boring is another cheap copy like the ones that already exist.
It was a story that had potential, and while it came close enough to make some fans, it sadly failed to live up to what it could have been. It also had a creator who walked away and wanted nothing more to do with it, so it became an 'open property' (you could use it without being accused of stealing/plagiarizing it).
Different people have different ideas as to why it was 'close but not quite', and that has inspired many to have a go at making it better....and most such attempts were abandoned before they really added much to the original.
I really hope White Silver makes it work, but a quick look through this thread gives a good indication as to why that's unlikely.
1) Whatever he does, most of the 'fans' aren't going to like it because it's not what they thought it should be.
2) Not knowing what to do with Eric (love him or hate him, he's an important character in most versions) suggests the dev hasn't really thought it all through well enough yet.
I have plenty of ideas about how this *should* work, but then, so does everyone. My only real suggestion to the dev would be to abandon the 'remake' idea, because that's just setting himself up to fail and piss people off. He should make the story his own (no harm with admitting it's 'based on' BB), commit to it, and take it on his own route.
Oh, and plan it out well enough to at least have an idea if significant characters like Eric will be a part of it
Have fun. Eliminating the grind would be very worthwhile. I don't need Eric.

The reason DS abandoned the game was because of Eric???
Tell me you know nothing about the game without telling me you know nothing about the game. You realise I have Lisa as my avatar since forever. BB was not the best game, but it was pretty good, and I was a big fan.
The reason why it was abandoned had nothing to do with Eric. I can tell you all the details if you are really interested, but Eric was definitely not in that equation.
I never played any of the clones, because none of them delivered (And I do not feel optimistic about this one either to be honest, especially if they take advice from posters like you)
All that I ever wanted is a continuation of the original story, but none of the clones ever caught up with that.

I don't like Eric, but he is a good antagonist. Essential for a good story.
I did not play any of the clones, because they never got to the same point as the original story. If I wanted to do that, I'd rather just play the original.

Do what YOU want with Eric. You're the one who is going to have to live with it and spend more time dealing with it than anyone else...Also, making it fun for you means it's easier to keep going.
I have my own ideas where to go with him, and while *I* think they'd be interesting and would lead the story down an interesting route, but as I said, you're the one who has to write it. (feel free to DM me for them).

EVERY BB game is a carbon copy of some other carbon copy. It's the Mulitpilicty of adult games. Here's an NTR game, here's a slightly different NTR game, and another one: here's an incel game, and seven other variations: here's another game that has everyone as zombies or vampires or some shit.... BB has become a "remake" trope that needs to fucking die. Lazy devs that can't even make their own stories or artwork. At least half a dozen remakes have launched with stolen content from fan-made images/animations. Not one dev ever has taken a version of this game to a sensible completion. It was probably one of the first NTR games people played even before "my girlfriends amnesia" and it seriously had potential. I think the only game remotely similar could be "man of the house" but that's a reach. Still, a mom and two sisters....and a game I someday need to finish.

I think what made Eric so annoying is he was a bitch to get rid of. Perhaps making it a bit easier to get rid of will leave the door open so that people who are curious can enjoy and those who WANT the ntr can enjoy as well as those who want to get rid of him easily.
In the end someone will be pissed. Look at souls-like games and you will find a large amount of people opposed of accessibility options for no other reason than the fact, these people will cave and use them. lol

I don't even want to call it "ongoing". He/she has remade it at least once or twice. It has been in production for years and still hasn't gone past the original game's story.
Here's something that really seems to be a common thread among lots of adult game devs: Spend 2+ years allegedly building a game and then, "oh, look, new Unreal/Unity/[other program] update has come out! We're gonna spend another six months to a year 'upgrading' our game to the new engine build!"
I wish you the best of luck and hope you have fun creating what you want. My expectations aren't high, because of all the abandoned 'big brother' games, but we'll see how you'll fare and hope maybe you're the one who'll last till the end. Have a glorious journey.
