All sex scenes will be avoidable from now on. However that was unavoidable for the prologue because the prologue is the story
before the story. The actual
Black Incense story was always going to start with Molly having a boyfriend and not being a virgin. I could have just started the story there without a prologue, but wanted the player to have as much ownership as possible of her story up to the start of the game
within reasonable bounds.
The way I like to think about it is to think about a top tier game when it comes to player agency / choice like Baldur's Gate 3. There is a huge amount of choice and opportunities to take your character in new directions with each playthrough, but the start of the story always has to include some common elements (e.g. being stuck on the nautiloid, meeting Lae'zel and Shadowheart, escaping the nautiloid) in order for there to be a story in the first place. It would be unreasonable to claim that Larian Studios were anti-player choice because they didn't let you start the game in Baldurs Gate, or on the side of the mindflayers at the very beginning, because there is only so much variation and choice you can add in whilst still keeping a coherent story.
If I had made a virgin route I would have had to have rewritten 12 of the game's sex scenes so far
just in case they were the player's first time, which is probably about two weeks of extra work I could instead spend making the next release. This forum is littered with abandoned games of devs who tried to fit everything in and burned out quickly. I'm determined for
Black Incense to not suffer the same fate.
Have no worries, I plan on keeping the system to a simple check and success and fail against a score. It's already coded in so is really easy to include in all future releases!
And yes, lesbian, bisexual, and straight paths will all be accommodated for in due course
Thank you for the kind words and support, it really does mean a lot! And don't worry, I am really mindful of the risk of burnout and feature creep - I learned a lot from making the prologue and think I have a pretty good idea of what is viable to release each month (certainly each monthly release will be smaller than the prologue, it would be impossible to make a release that size each month), in a way that will still keep the story moving and evolving.
And yes, in time there will indeed be more group sex and bisexual opportunities for Molly
I took out the buttons to click on as I did not want too much screen clutter and entirely redesigned the UI to try and make the game experience as aesthetic as possible. However the keyboard and mouse shortcuts for both still work so the functionality is still very much there.
Thanks for the kind words! And for sure, good spot

I don't have time to fix every single small AI artefact in game if they are mostly unobtrusive and in the background, but a missing limb does seem like the sort of thing that needs patching up! Thank you for pointing it out, I'll run it through an inpainter and have Molly back on
both feet for her date in the next release
