this happens when I start the game. Happens when I install even the trial version from the site. They responded to my support email and made me download the new patch. I have to Hold M before the pop up title up and it works

Well, I have even less idea now than I had yesterday about what we are talking about... xD
Out of curiosity, was this regarding the first game (Mistletear 1, final version released 7 years ago), ergo the one in the opening post (OP), so the one this thread is supposed to be about?
Or the second (Mistletear 2), which was mentioned here, but only has a TL request thread thus far (afaik) and has been released only a week or so ago?
Do you get the same error if you download the game from here, extract it (no install needed), and try to run it?
You are not mixing files from here with the trial, or whatever, right?
It just seems very weird.
At any rate, mighty nice of them to give you a personal patch (was it a patch.xp3 file?).

What is the problem with installing?
...you can just install, copy the game dir to the place you need it to be at, then just run 'unins000.exe' from the installed game folder, if you don't want any "traces". Will work as intended.
Just an idea.
