Did he say in the countdown post or the recent update "EVERYBODY SUB NOW THE UPDATE IS COMING!!" Or did all of you guys do that on your own?

I'll reiterate it for the millionth time. If you don't see a release post just don't sub. If you're subbing before a release post you're subbing for what is currently available and you're not obligated to receive anything in the future prior to your subscription running out. If you subbed for the release, wait for the release.

I swear I'm starting to think Tori does has superpowers because he's mindcontrolled these people to sub to him for something they didn't want. Like if I wanted something i'd typically just wait until the thing is available to buy it. But that's just me.
What you say is just not realistic, people are not as pragmatic as you think they are. And if it works like that and people are mad about it later. There is nothing to do about it. People are free to complain later because it's just bad. And it's not just a question of money, but trust in general. You shouldn't go 360 on something you previously said for example. The remaster was a very very bad choice in context.

For sure - the healthy and pragmatic thing would be to leave until there is real news. But surely there's some leeway in the meantime for a good ol public pillorying of the crooked merchant.
Of course. But I think we can both agree that leeway has run out already at least for now. It can resume after a release and we can all discuss whether it was worth it or not. But for now I think that's enough complaints over the last few months

I'm not against the criticism. That's legit. It's the constant whining and complaining about things they can control. Like feeling wronged about paying money before they actually see a release available. Or pocket watching Tori for people subbing to him when he hasn't ever solicited them.

the dev is welcome to pause his patreon and say "i'm going dark until the update is out, see ya soon" and that would quiet things down. but he's still cranking out teasers and fomenting hype, which is naturally going to generate excitement in this thread. as long as the dev is cashing community checks, the community is going to have things to say about it. the only person struggling with this concept is you

He didn't say it's out yet but he said a date that mind you, has already gone, even though it is an approximate most people could easily think, that is less than a week away wich apparently it isn't, you could blame the community and the people who pay it, yeah they are the "dumb" ones by not waiting but can you really blame them?
They just want to play the game as soon and if tori keeps posting an "almost close" every month, people will still pay sadly after all a month is a decent time, I don't think tori does it intentionally but it's pissing people off, and besides that, if people do what you think is the smart approach of just pay when is out and stop paying then there would be no game

People getting "hype" over a free porn game is crazy. Like maybe I truly am the weird one. Cause I really don't understand that concept. The dev is releasing AI pictures on patreon and "fomenting" hype so complaining is valid cause the game they are itching to play isn't coming out fast enough? Is that it?

You're wrong about that. If no one was paying, Tori would still make the game. He's not relying on the subs to make a living. He's constantly said this is a passion project he works on the side and would continue to release and work on it even if the subs weren't there like they are now. So the people subbing ahead of time truly make no difference to him.

Jeez - All that complaining. It would not surprise me if the dev finally has enough and says: "You can all go to hell, I quit!".
In stead of getting the VN later, we won't get anything at all anymore, and the game will be abandoned.
Would that surprise me? After reading all this vitriol on these pages... Not really...

There are some guys that have literally 0 messages in other threads and all they have written in here is just non stop whining. This really is a testament to the good work the dev’s doing so far. Make all these grown-up boys cry all this much is no little task!

I always wonder why Tori delays. Is it that he underestimated how long the remaining work on the update would take or being "ready" then finding a whole bunch of things he wants to change or even saying a deadline so he has some date that he has to get it done by so the deadline makes him want to work?

I truly love this game and the way he writes characters is so much more engaging than other games in this genre or any lewd game honestly. This is the only game where I've considered learning how to make mods just so there is more content with these characters available. This is the only game where I'll pay for the patreon when a release comes out just because I want the project to do well, the only project where I've kept up with the community. I hope Tori is doing well

Tori is making the game he wants to make in his spare time. So far, has done an amazing job at creating such game.

We all told him not to bend to the community's wants and stay the course with his vision. Which is what he's doing.

I don't think he's too focused on the business side of things currently, as clearly Tori's communication with the community has been subpar.

Tori is just choosing to make the game at his pace with his own vision in mind, and if people will support him great, if not, okay. His thinking is probably that, as long as he continues making the game he wants to make; and it's very high quality, the business side of things will come along with that.

This is probably a lesson for Tori, in that going forwards, if providing your audience an expectation around an update; give yourself a month or two of buffer. In other words, underpromise and overdeliver.

But at the end of the day it's Tori's game and he can do whatever he wants / communicate things however he wants. The thing that's important is that, he has acknowledged that he has passed the expected timeline he previously gave and is offering full refunds.

I really think that the amount of trolling and vitriol seen in here shows how much people love the game. They take time out of their days to come here and complain and troll because that's how badly they want an update. I hope Tori can see that and look past those comments.

So, Mr. Spokesperson, when the update is coming?

In other words, underpromise and overdeliver.
tori is experimenting with an exciting and innovative new approach: underpromise and underdeliver.

"the update that was coming in july? well now it's coming in september... but wait! it's actually just the remaster coming out in september, not the actual update. and by 'september' i of course mean 'october.'"
