Indeed, the opinion of users doesn't matter, the game is what it is and it will change depending on what the developer want. It is pretty simple.

No, it depends on how dev poses him\herself - like a humble creator making his plot but willing to listen or partially appeal to someone else's ideas (to win crowd's attention and favour) or a person whos ego or ambitions do not allow to vouchsafe to the masses - who cares about what fanbase want? Right? But fans are like the Atlas from the Greek myths - they are holding your world and without their attention and reaction you'll probably fall down. THIS is pretty simple.

There is a need to enforce good etiquette on the threads to ensure they don't get bogged down by endless discussions about development time/updates.

This is not the navy, but specific rules to govern the conduct of people on this forum are needed, else things will devolve into chaos for no good reason.

Hence, to avoid any prolonged/disruptive conversations that will needlessly derail the thread it IS necessary to expunge certain posts to avoid all out flamewars from getting out of hand.

It works pretty well in an app called JoiPlay, you cant get it on playstore. Just download the windows file, extract it and choose the .exe in the files when running the app. Its pretty simple to do
