Another promesing game instantly abandoned because it didnt make the same money as Something Unlimited in its first release. I dont want to sound like an asshole, but some game developers really should wait a couple of releases before judging their proyects as ''failures'', version 0.1 rarely makes more than 4 o 5 patreons. Reminds me of Messiah supreme.
I mean, sure, but there's a world of difference between 4-5 people and literally nobody. 0 patrons, and a grand total of a single person liking the twitter post for the release.

I think some devs are expecting too much out of their first project.

I understand that they don't wanna work for free, but it is expected to make very little money at first because very few people know them or their game. If they weren't prepared to make their way through this, then they shouldn't even start.
Totally agree with you.

Yea that sucks, but you have to be ready for results like that in version 0.1, sadly. The (porn)gaming community is not as innocent as it used to be (much irony in that) and we dont longer back up proyects with original or interesting ideas just for those ideas, thanks to some scammers fucking things up for everyone (COFCOF brozeks and grozeks COFCOF)

exactly, now the next game they try to make (If they even try) people will remember this and that it was abandoned and have even less faith in the new project.

Again, Messiah supreme. The game was great, but REAAAALLY early in development. The guy abandoned it at version 0.1.2. Why? Because he ''dont make enough patreons'', just 5 patreons. Inmediatly annoced a new proyect with no relation in themes or concept to Messiah. Well congrats! Now you have 1 patreon, and a sceptic community who dislike you already. Good luck with that new proyect.

Sure, but you have to understand that most people are not gonna start paying like $5-10 a month if they don't know if it's gonna be finished or not

Imagine if there was a single $10 patreon right after the release back in february... 6 months later, he would've paid 60 bucks for literally nothing

People are not gonna start throwing money at you until they trust that you can deliver.

But the fact that basically nobody could even bother to push a free like button on Twitter is what I would take as an indicator that making it is a waste of time because nobody wants it.

The access tier is $1. And I also pointed out that they didn't even get Twitter likes, which are, y'know, free. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to keep working on a project when there is literally no indicator anyone is interested.

I get the feeling the dev died or something. They had plans for 2 games, posted multiple character arts and in-game shots for one plus an in-game shot for the other, then posted the demo for boobswatch after which nothing. Their Twitter is equally lacking in any new content after the demo was released.

Twitter, like any social page (patreon included) follow the same rules. You cant expect a 3millons followers instagram in 2 days, except if you are someone already know for something else, like a singer or a movie star. So same logic that with the patreon and the backers, only worse, because the porn community is not as relevant in twitter as it is in patreon (all the big games came from there)

Sure, but I doubt most people even know his game, his patreon and his twitter even exist.. And that's my point, some devs expect to be famous and rich overnight, and that's not how it goes.

As you develop your game, if it's good of course, it'll be discovered by more and more people, more people will support it, etc, but it's a gradual process. I'm pretty sure DrPinkCake didn't immediately start with the 7k patreons he has today

I'm willing to bet that the reason for it being abandoned is because the dev used the actual full names and likeness of multiple Overwatch characters, and got a strike from Blizzard. I think some OW porn can go under the radar even though it's blatantly those characters being represented, but when you start saying "Jesse McCree, Hana Song and Ana Amari," then there can be no doubt that it's infringing the original characters. I may be wrong about that, but I've seen several games just recently get abandoned pretty quickly because of those reasons, and the dev not wanting to redo everything that would be required to squeak by the copyrights.
