I am experiencing the same problem. I have, fortunately, already played this some years ago, but there are so few decent porn games with game play elements like this that I wanted to enjoy it. But I keep getting the opening text scrawl over and over again and it doesn't move on to the actual game.

Does anyone have a solution? This has been a persistent problem for quite some time.
game has problem runing
Try right-clicking on the exe and select "Properties", click on the "Compatibility" tab, and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for..." From the drop down menu just below it, select Windows XP. Click "Apply" then "OK". Run the game again.

Well this is the first game of its kind or is among the first. Back then they were mostly VNs like Snow Sakura, Gibo, Sagara Family, etc. Pretty much all the porn games made with RPG elements was made after this game.
Similar games... Rance Series! Already posted here.
Try Kakyusei 2
Eien no Aselia
Princess General 2
And go to the releases page and click on the the Visual Novel Prefix. It'll list the games we have here and some play similar like monster quest, etc.
That's all I can think of.
Know its way late but WHATTTT? Lightning Warrior Raidy was a decade before this and it was not first dungeon crawler rpg eroge. RPG's came long before VN's unless you want to call text based adventures VN's.

I don't think I played Lightning Warrior Raidy. But to me, Brave Soul was the first I'd seen at that point.

Not really a surprise, we take internet for granted now but early eroge was hard to get in nineties as wasn't carried by most retailers and finding adult shops that carried it was rare as hens teeth. So its only really popular titles that get the nostalgic release to west translated. I also doubt many people would get into the old style dungeon crawlers that didn't play through them when they first developed.

I was just a little surprised because when I checking out games I look for your posts on thread first. Your insight is very helpful.

i'm experiencing heavy lag, anyone know why?
For Windows 10 need to right click on the "brave_s" application icon you use to start game, select properties, select compatibility tab, firstly choose compatibility Windows XP or earlier (I went with 98/ME) and finally check "reduced colour mode" box and choose 8 bit (256 colours) from drop down menu.

Run in full screen and it should run fine. If you forget to reduce colours it is laggy as.

EDIT OK Run in 16 Bit colour. Just tried to run again and it suddenly decided it wasn't compatible with 8 bit...

I was trying to play the game but can't seem to get it to work, it is constantly repeating the intro text, also, the text leaves behind a sort of after image. I tried doing the compatibility mode, and the only ones available are windows 95, windows 96/ windows me, windows XP (service pack 2), windows XP (service pack 3), windows vista, windows vista (service pack 1), windows vista (service pack 2), windows 7, and windows 8. none of them work.

I had lag and the opening was only showing a black screen. This is what I did to get the game working on Win 10.

Set compatibility of brave_s.exe as follows:

Ran brave_s.exe and on the options menus that opens I selected as follows:

screenshot.6.jpg

Thanks to Sinphil who pointed out to use reduced color mode.

PI...cant BELIEVE I even have to ask these, HOW do we save the damn GAME?
When I close out the game, why does my desktop resolution remained WAY too large, enough that I can't even move the screen around, let alone see or manipulate the edge?

Does anyone have a "system.sav" file for this game that not only unlocks all the pictures, but all the other stuff(difficulty levels, etc.) as well?

I remember coming across a stray file host for this game a long time ago in my young and desperate hunt for pronz. I played it, and I fell in love. It's clunky and at times a little weird, but it's still a solid piece of software from a bygone age...

And if anyone else is looking at this, thinking about trying it out, remember: It's an old game, from the 90's level of old. So you'll need to twiddle with the settings a bit to make it work. The important part is to use compatability mode for Win98, and to play the game in window-mode; that last one might be a bit of a hassle but it's not as big of a hassle as having the game lag at a constant 5FPS or something in fullscreen... And use the setup. The game might work if you just play the raw files found in the links, but installing it properly unlocks a few gimmicks, like the voice recordings and the opening, if you fancy those.

...You know your life is in shambles if you're looking for nostalgia in eroge games, like me. XD
