I get you about the romantic and monogamous stuff. I almost always start a game by doing a nice guy run and I especially enjoy the games who allow it and don't force any relation. I do enjoy the plots and the romantic scenes.
And that's why on this game I'm disappointed: in my opinion, an undercover cop in this situation should not be hoping getting happily away with any girl: he's just been there for a few days, having absolutely zero idea of how he will manage his mission, he shouldn't even think about those things. As long he has absolutely no idea about what he will need to do to succeed, it's too soon to consider anything else. But yeah I know, it's a porn game, not a movie or a TV show. But still...I can't imagine a romantic path with a happy end in this situation. Eventually with Vanessa with whom you could imagine a getaway plan.

I will say just because visual novel has sex in them doesn't mean it's just a porn game

but I think the game is going for he's not looking for a relationship right now but as he gets to know the girls and gets

close enough to whoever you choose he's going to fall in love with her and have to make a choice

and if I can't fall in love with a girl and end up with her I never want to play that game

there are hundreds of movies about undercover cops falling in love with a girl and ending up with her in the end

so why can't it be the same in visual novel what's wrong with that

why does it have to be super realistic why can't it be a love story

and also a great detective story which it is

Haha, half true. My uncle was an officer in the narcotics bureau, he gets a lot of women for sure. But never a stable relationship. Cheats on his wife a lot. His line of work don't typically have happy endings though unless you have ironclad mental resilience and fortitude. He went in and out of rehab a couple of times, went to prison and kicked out of the force. His job turned him into a self-destructive individual. His ex-wife and kid went through a couple of traumatic years with him.

In any case, i actually do like the dating sim aspect of this VN so although it's doesn't make sense in this premise i hope dev continues to focus on it too.

Don't be too strict with Devs. They are just undergraduates and this is just their first (and may only, considering the negative feedback) game. I just graduated two years ago and I remember I delayed or quit many things because of studying and socializing. Actually I am surprised it is still developed when finding it was updated.

Cop goes undercover... But everyone knows who he is and he's more surprised by who doesn't know he's undercover and makes no attempt to hide his identity.

What are you talking about ?? Kylie's one of the few characters who figured that out on her own... we can blame this on her habits as a successful, workaholic and well-connected lawyer, she then told Gabriel, her and Afina's dad, and Afina only knows the MC is that kid who used to come play with her brother, not an undercover cop risking his ass out to take down a dangerous criminal organization he suspects killed his mom.

The second one is Vanessa, MC's childhood friend, who seems to be a very skilled hacker pretending to be part-time twitch streamer or just a very passionate gamer girl. She specifically let him know of this and how she saved his ass by covering for him on more than one occasion too.

It seems like she spied on the MC and tried to protect him from a distance as much as she could for a long time, probably from those criminals she ended up working for for some reason, judging by the pic of him and Tianna on her monitor, but except them, that's it.

No other LI, side girl, or woman he comes in contact with so far, Tess and Sarah included, knows about the MC's undercover mission, unless you count the principal on the love/fuck interest list too lol.

The story's clearly not perfect, no story ever is, but it's not that bad either.

Matter of fact, it barely started unfolding. If it's not making too much or any sense so far in certain aspects, it's most likely bcz we don't have enough information to judge that for sure, but future updates will shed light on these certain aspects. Plus, the game's a big ass work in progress until it gets the completed tag, things can and will oviously change for the better.

That temu wannabe Chinese Triad boss, Zhao, even commented there was no information or compromising stuff on the MC they could use to their advantage. Don't know why this is even a debate, when it's specifically stated in the story, ffs. Proof in the spoiler tag bellow...

And there are a few characters constantly reminding the MC of the severe consequences of his actions in this line of work, especially in a situation like his current one, characters like Tianna and Sancho do it on many occasions, then Gabriel, Kylie, even Vanessa make it abundantly clear his mission is not to be taken lightly... if shit does go south, it's his own ass and those of the ppl he cares about on the line.

So again, I don't know why what's obviously shown or stated still needs to be debated, but guess some peeps missed a few important parts in the story just to get to the good stuff, or to see how much content there is in this update, or something.

I completely agree. In fact, I'd take it a few steps further and say that fiction's very purpose is to make reality juicier, spicier and more fun that it actually is. This is the part where kinks and fantasies, not necessarily the sexual kind, join the chat.

While it's pointless to argue the fact that the MC should be 100% focused on his job, be able to think on his feet and adapt to every change happening around him or in his life, even the smallest or seemingly insignificant ones, some sweet romance and a few flings here and there never hurt anyone.

As a matter of fact, I'd argue that the MC screwing up on purpose sometimes and making his enemies severely underestimate him is a huge plus for our boi, cuz this way, he has the element of surprise on his side and all the advantages that come with it.

You're absolutely right! At the beginning of the game, I was totally focused on Vanessa, a childhood friend who apparently got involved with the Syndicate against her will, and BOOM! Eveline appears, and Kylie decides to earn points during her "date" at the gym.
But Tianna seems interesting too

I'm so happy that the game allows the MC to build his reputation without forcing him to sleep with anyone

and I always thought that the MC was taking his job seriously from the start

remember he cant go straight into questioning people or he'll get caught

Well not a fan of the "wall text" myself but seeing people that are not following correctly what was said in game is frustrating. The dev has covered his bases somewhat storywise. I just pointed out the points of the defense where the critic about the game is misplaced and fails in my eyes.

As one of 4 people on this site that actually read the dialogue in these games, the fact you're defending this pile of slop is horrifying. There are so many issues that I didn't point out and saying "we'll learn when they tell us" is half of my problem. Not to mention how dumb most of the plot has been. His cover story of "I used to be a cop" is so mentally deficient that your head would have to literally be hollow to not think "Hm better not let him near my drug cartel." Add to the fact that the theme of the game is basically "It's Trauma!!" Feels so lazy. EVERYTHING in this shovelware has been done to death and then some. But no! I just don't get it, do I? I haven't waded through 14 other games that are exactly this game. I should wait it out and support the dev because they "might have potential" or "it might get better." If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it must be a subaru impreza levels of bullshit right here.

Take it easy, dude. This isn't the Oscars awards for creativity, originality and realism. Nobody ever pretended the game was anything more than a promising (IMO) story and relaxing gaming experience with a few beers in hand after a hard day at work, or just a sweet pastime to, well, pass the time and see some sweet romance combined with action.

Why get so triggered about a fictional story you can always ignore and move on to other titles better suited for your tastes ?? And who exactly forces you to pay the dev if you don't want to for your own personal reasons ??

If you ever paid him, you helped him grow as a dev in this business, you basically did that out of the goodness of your heart, not cuz someone promised to make real-life versions of these female characters for you to... 'socialize' with in private or some crazy shit like that.

Keyword here is personal agency. Nobody's forcing anyone to like it or pay for it, either of those or both are your choice to make, but instead of rambling the same nonsense over and over again, you could always explain in a calm, polite and constructive way what you liked and disliked about this update, a previous one, or the whole game in general here or in the review section so Knight (the dev) knows where he did good and where he needs to do better.

This is a good start in the right direction, if you really want to see a positive change, not what you did there.

Just go play literally any other game you want, wait for new ones to be released, use tags in the search function for more accurate results, OR, since you such an expert storyteller, go make your own game and see how easy it is to do it long-term, especially when confronted with top-quality 'feedback' like yours and don't have enough money left in the pocket.

We get it, you don't like it... the game's not for everyone. I personally do, other users seem to like it too, that's why I said what I said in my last replies in the thread.
